Does the walker choose the path, or the path the walker?

I think that is a really good question. Seriously, it really makes me think about fate, desting and our own choices.

If you think about it, are our lives set out like a script? Meaning that we have to follow a certain way, or do we have a choice on the way our life pans out. Destiny and fate are two ways to look at our life, and free will is the other. I personally believe that our lives have already been set out. Although it feels like we are making spontaneous, free willed desicions, I think that whatever choice we make, we have to make.

Just wondering what your thoughts are on that question.

I don't believe in fate. We choose our life's course. Nothing is 'meant' to happen unless we make it that way.

There is no destiny, there is no giant chalkboard in the sky that says you will do eat cornflakes today. We choose our own path and we walk that path by our own free will.

I would have to say that the path chooses the walker. I mean the walker can't choose a destiny unless the opportunity comes to the walker. Path being opportunity. That is why the path would choose the walker.

Walker chooses the path, any one can make there own life but they have to make it for them selves.

Very true. But here's an example of how that's wrong and how the path chooses the walker. You decide to work at mcdonalds, but they're not hiring, so therefore you can't choose the path because it's not letting you in. And when it is hiring, the path will seek out those who are willing to work there. So therefore, the path would choose the walker.

Topdog, so you're saying you will subconciously know when McDonalds is hiring so you can work there, and when they are hiring you will have no control of yourself and just go work there because that's the way destiny works. No, of course not. You would see that they are hiring and apply for the job because you need a form of income.

I believe we choose and are in control of our own destiny, but part of me believes maybe some things, however hard we try, we can't change.

Let me give a good example of what you are saying. Your destiny is to become a football player. So, you're just going to come into the NFL when there is no draft happening? See, you can't do something when you don't have the chance or opportunity to.

It's just logic isn't it? You can't go through a door, if the door isn't there.

What brad just sad is very true! I mean, if a door isn't there, door being the path, you can't go through it, you being the walker. So therefore, the door would have to come to you. And therefore, opportunity would have to come to you before you can actually do something.
