Ok now I'm not interested in holding another little religious debate like the other topic. I just saw this scale of religious 'belief' in a book and I'm interested to see where you would classify yourself.

Quote:
1. Strong Theist. 100% probability of God. In the words of C.G Jung, "I do not believe, I know."

2. De facto Theist. Very high probability but short of 100%. "I cannot know for certain, but I strongly believe in God and live my life on the assumption that he is there."

3. Higher than 50% but not very high, technically agnostic but leaning towards theism. "I am very uncertain, but I am inclined to believe in god."

4. Exactly 50%. Completely impartial agnostic. "God's existence and non-existence are exactly equiprobable"

5. Lower than 50% but not very low. Technically agnostic but leaning towards atheism. "I don't know whether god exists but I'm inclined to be sceptical"

6. Very low probability, but short of zero. De facto atheist. "I cannot know for certain but I think God is very improbable, and I live my life on the assumption that he is not there."

7. Strong Atheist, "I know there is no God, with the same conviction as Jung "knows" there is one"

I would personally class myself as a 6.

Please no winging, no flaming others beliefs and no "OMG I R NUT GOING 2 GIEF MY ANSWER CUZ PEOPLEZ WILL FLAMZ ME 4 IT". It gets really old, really fast.

This is not a debate, it's a question. Which everybody should really have an answer to.

Around 4 or 5, kind of skeptic of God.

6-7.

I can't imagine how it could be true, it doesn't seem real.

Especially after proof and theories of evolution and how life came to exist on Earth.
I watched a lot of documentaries
Much more believable IMO.

Edit: I changed from 1 to 2. I don't technically know God exists, but I am almost certain for many reasons.

But what did such a Teuton afterwards look like when he had been "improved" and led into a monastery? Like a caricature of a human being, like an abortion: he had become a "sinner," he was in a cage, one had imprisoned him behind nothing but sheer terrifying concepts... There he lay now, sick, miserable, filled with ill-will towards himself; full of hatred for the impulses toward life, full of suspicion of all that was still strong and happy. In short, a "Christian"... - Twighlight of the Idols

Purely interests sake. Guess it goes a bit deeper than just saying I do/don't believe in god.

6-7.

Quote:
Atheism is more than just the knowledge that gods do not exist, and that religion is either a mistake or a fraud. Atheism is an attitude, a frame of mind that looks at the world objectively, fearlessly, always trying to understand all things as a part of nature. - Carl Sagan

^Following that definition, atheism is 6. We do not know for certain that god does not exist, and so we should assume he is not there, but we do not know.

No-one should ever be a 1, either.

That's why I'm a 6.

A 2, probably. Though I somewhat lean toward 3. I don't heavily guide my life based on this belief that if I do something wrong, I'll be damned to hell or anything. I think that there is one though and it's something that I'll always believe. The only people who really know whether or not there is a god are those who are dead.
