Illegal immigration in America is a major problem for this country. Jobs are lost everyday to illegal immigrants who will work for lower wages. With lower wages, major companies are moving across the border. It’s not a secret, 57% of all illegal immigrants come from Mexico, not only that most of them cross the same 5 mile land strip, The Rio Grand. In January of 2006 there was a total of 13,000,000 illegal immigrants, with only 7,500,000 working and less then 60% with less than a high school education. 57% came from Mexico, 25% came from Latin & Central America, 9% from Asia and 6% from Europe. There are three ways of entering America illegally. The first way is to cross the border illegally. The second is the stay after your visa has expired. The third is to enter this country hiding, otherwise known as “human trafficking”. From 1999 to 2006 over one million *** crimes were committed by illegal immigrants, and over half of all violent crimes are committed by illegal immigrants.
Immigrants must be screened for TB when entering the nation, and also if needed screened for HIV. With over 13 million illegal immigrants not being screened for these diseases the chance of another TB or flu outbreak of likely. Illegal immigrants are also bringing back diseases the have not been seen in America for years such as, Malera, Drug resistant TB, polio dengue fever. Environmental concerns have also arose in illegal immigration. In our national parks along the Us Mexican border miles and miles of illegal roads and trails have been cut. The California Ranger Department measure trash in the tons, everything from Soda Cans to Cars. 2,000 tons of trash was collected along the Us Mexican border last year. In Arizona illegal immigrates are credited to starting over 8 major brush fires, around 68,431 acres (108 Sq. Miles) and cost the taxpayers $5.3 million to fight. With the facts presented to the government they increased patrol but did little good, they installed a wire fence, it was torn down.
With thousands of jobs and thousands of acres lost to illegal immigrants something must be done, The first thing America should do is close its border. The government can barley take care of its own people, homeless, welfare, etc.. That should be the first priority for the government. I believe with the borders closed, America should focus on the people and create jobs. The government should invest in a company and employ people; this could range from government made cars, government farms, to a government brewery. In 2003 29.6% of all land in America was owned by the government, a total of 671,759,297.7 acres. The second thing is America, must expel all illegal immigrants, without proper paperwork all illegal immigrants should be sent back to there country of origin. This would fall under the Homeland Security which would have to make a separate branch call (IID-Illegal Immigrant Department) much like a police force for Illegal Immigrants. Large walls would be constructed on the Us/Mexican border with a patrol, this would create civilian jobs. Any attempt. Of illegal border crossing would be taken as a attack on the country under the terrorism act., and force should be used when necessary. Motion dectors should be installed across the us Canada border with more patrols for it. The civilian patrols would work as a city/state militia, working for the state that is paid by the government. The third is a lottery for immigrants. Each year 1,000,000 visa’s with be issued for people who apply at American Embassy’s. In one month of entering the nation, after heath screening the immigrants must find work and place of residence or there visa is revoked. The Visa’s will only be good for male and females between the age of 17-50 with good health.
