Why did your parents choose your name?

I was just thinking of this and I wanted to know why your parents chose to name you what they did. My dad actually picked my name, Kristina, from the Phantom of the Opera (technically, the main character's name was "Christine", but my name is the Russianised form of her name.). My dad is a big fan of opera and it was a better name than what my mum wanted to name me (Larissa). Kristina was a bit of a precarious name to have since my family converted to Judaism, but I'm keeping it forever. I like it.

Anyway, why did your parents pick your name? And what would other names were they wanting to name you?

I've always known you as Mushroom Queen because I never knew your real name, but now you've posted it. That's cool, Kristina.

My parents, mainly my mom had picked my name: Jaden because she had heard a person with that name and thought it was so cool that she had to name me that. I also do like the name Jaden, but the only thing I wished is that it was spelt like Jayden so I could use a short name including Jay.

Well I got my name in russian "Misha", my dad suggested it, but my grandparents and my mom wanted to name me "Boris", Since my dad liked the Name "Misha" because it was his best friends name, he died in Afghan...So well my mom didn't agree for that name at first, but she gave in later, "Originally the wanted to call me Boris, as a honor of my Great Grandfather, but actually neighbor laughed at boris the name, so my parents decided to call Misha, in Ukrainian, people in Villages called me Mihasko. - thought that was the reason my mom didn't want my name to Misha- you Too many name Mikhail, Mikhailo,Mihasko, and so on. But she gave in somehow.

Apparently they knew some couple who had a son called Bradley and liked the name. My parents just copied some other couple.

My parents originally wanted to call me something wierd, and they decided upon Zachary. At the last minute, though, they thought it was probably best to call me something normal, and so I got dumped with Matthew. They made my middle name is Zachary, though.

Tbh I wouldnt have minded being called Zachary.

Uh i got named after my dead great grandad. Super.

It was a choice between "george" and my great grandads name. Thank the lord they picked my grandads over george.

My parents chose my name (Jennifer) as a compromise since they couldn't agree on a name. My mom wanted to name me Meghan, but my dad didn't like it.

My parents had no problems choosing my name, Alexander literally means on latin "protector of men". But everybody calls me Sasha nowadays :oops:

My parents named me Daniel...I honestly do not know why. :shock:

My parents aren't the same religion, but I think they picked it because it was a Biblical name.

My parents named me before they knew what my gender was to be. I guess they liked the name and that it was suitable for both a boy and a girl.

My mom found my name in a book of names to give your child. I'm pretty sure that she considered "Justin", but chose "Curtis".

I was meant to be called Vladimir... but then, they decide to call me... well I forgot, got to ask, but then again, my grandmother didn't agree, so they've called me after my great grand father, Sergei, which is the name of my, well, dead, father, so we kind of have same names, only the middle name tell the diffrence..

My parents chose my name, Michael, because it has relations to a Biblical character, Michael the Archangel.
