Favorite Authors?

Post your favorite authors and the top three of your favorite books by that author.

My favorite author is Michael Crichton. He writes great thrillers and sci-fi books...The only thing that upsets me is that if you read the book once, the second read will be boring because you will already know the plot.

And here are my favorite books all by him:

1. Sphere
COMMENTS: A fantastic sci-fi thriller. I read it in two days! Very fun.
2. Jurassic Park
COMMENTS: FAR better than the movie.
3. Timeline
COMMENTS: A very interesting read, even though the story starts a bit slow at the near-beginning.

Philip Pulman:
The Northern Lights
The Subtle Knife
The Amber Spyglass

^ A very interesting trilogy if you like fantasy sort of books, with a slight bit of romance in the last one.

Douglas Adams:
The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy
The Restaurant At The End of the Universe
Life, The Universe and Everything
So Long, and Thanks for all the Fish
Mostly Harmless

^ A very funny series of books set in a sci-fi world where Earth has just been blown up and there exists only two survivng humans.

Non-fiction

Richard Dawkins - Climbing Mount Improbable, Selfish Gene, God Delusion.

Carl Sagan - The Varieties of Scientific Experience, Thoughts of life and death at the brink of the millennium, Nuclear winter and an end to the arms race.

Charles Darwin - Origin of species, Voyage of the beagle.

Fiction

George Orwell - 1984, Animal Farm, Down and out in Paris and London.

Aldous Huxley - Brave New World, Crome Yellow.

I mainly read non fiction.

My favourite author is Doctor Seuss, lol... Yeaahhh. I don't really have any favourite books by him.

Is that listed in order? I'm quite interested. I intend to read the first book after I finish Eragon.

Christopher Paolini (Inheritance)

Eoin Colfer (Artemis Fowls pwns all)

Brian Jacques (Castaway of the Flying Dutchman, Some of the earlier Redwall)

In my house we have over 1500 books. Yeah....

Orwell and Huxley were both great authors. I enjoyed 1984 and Brave New World too. I also liked Michael Crichton, I remember reading Sphere when I was 13 (I had seen the film first and I was very excited to read the book). I liked Brian Jacques, but only read a few of his books (Mattimeo, Mossflower, Mariel of Redwall). I really only read fiction because I see reading, out of university work, as something that should be enjoyable but still informative. I like the Avalon series by Marion Zimmer-Bradley and Thinner Than Thou by Kit Reed. I'll probably think of a million other books I enjoy reading right after I post this..heheh. :oops:

Mmm... I like all the usual books. His Dark Materials, Artemis Fowl, Harry Potter, though I've never liked Lord of the Rings.

I haven't been reading enough lately... so many books on the shelf waiting to be read... XD

I see you used the past tense ("liked"). Does that mean you don't like him anymore?
