Hiccups?

I had them for 3 hours, then I drank water upside down and they went away but now theyre back. Ive had them for an hour and they wont go away so Im wondering, what do you guys do when you get hiccups?

I hold my breath till i burp and that usually gets them to go away for me.

Hold me breath. This probably doesn't work for everyone, but ever since I was a little kid all I had to do was hold my breath for a couple seconds and they went away, no matter how bad they were.

Except the first time I tried chew and swallowed it.. Those were some nasty hiccups.

Or holding your breath, looking up and pushing on your stomach.

Suck a mint, drink a litre of water, drink water backwards, they can work. They can also make you look like a right idiot.

Hiccups are caused by irritation on the diaphragm, so in theory if you dislodge the irritation, they may go away. In theory, punching yourself in the diaphragm may stop them.

i heard hiccups make your heart skip for a millisecond, do you know if this is true.

I was told to always hold my breath, only works sometimes though. I normally just down glasses of water until it goes.

Dont drink too much, though. If you drink 6 pints of water in quick succession, you die.
