You can attach the lock to the bike and lock it up whenever you want.

So you can walk some more? What was the purpose of the bike in the first place?

Unless of course your perfect day would be a nice, refreshing ride through the polluted atmosphere where (here's the fun part) you get to sniff in all the toxins you want. Nice area to ride your bike, eh?.

So i suppose you wear a gasmask whenever you go to NYC?

I'd have to be outside for years there for it to be a harm for me. The air is as clean there as it is in any ordinary city.[/quote]

Proof, please.

About the pollution stuff, you act like cars are harmless and don't contribute to it at all.

Cars are the biggest reason for pollution.
They take up a large amount of living space.
They are bad for the earth and plants and creatures.
But they're still a better option than bikes when it comes to technicality.

Well, what would you choose in this scenario:

Average weather.
Only you, no one else.
The task at hand doesn't require a large vehicle.
It would take you 10 minutes by car to arrive, and 15 minutes by bike.
Gas is a little bit higher priced than normal.

Biking isn't bad and there are situations where one is better than the other, I don't know why it's cars only, bikes suck. (or vice versa)

It depends on whether or not I own a bike. I do, but car either way. 10 minutes by car shouldn't waste too much gas.

Say it uses $70 worth of gas now, as it is the near future because people used a car too much instead of biking. Which would you pick?

It wouldn't use 20 times as much money. And if it would, then it would be in a long time from now (hopefully with a new invention of vehicles, and cars are so last century), where the value of living has changed, where I would have 20 times as much money in my bank account... so it wouldn't really matter.

How is walking relevant to bike locks?

What do i need to prove?

An average person living in the NYC walks 5-8 miles a day, mainly to work, shopping and things. Most people choose to rather walk than take a taxi.

And do you know how many percent of those people die because their lungs are ruines by the air? ZERO.

Yeah, they walk rather than taking a bike, too.

When you lock a bike, most of the time it doesn't move. So you can't ride it and your alternative is to walk.

Are you positive about the percentage? I'm not saying you're wrong; but I don't think you're right. Of course people don't die automatically when exposed to polluted air; it gets worse as they walk every day 5-8 miles to work. Anyway, pollution isn't the point here.

Gah. Stop making silly specific circumstances and understand on an average day, when deciding between a twenty minute walk or a 5 minute car journey, people will more often than not use the car simply because it's quicker. People do not care about pollution or laziness, it's all about speed and time.

I use my car to do just about everything, but that's because I don't really live close to stuff.

Or maybe you could unlock it.

Maybe not zero, but very close to it. See this: http://www.nyc.gov/html/doh/html/press_ ... 0130.shtml

See that 80-90% of those who died to lung cancer were tobacco users. That doesn't leave much for the deaths caused by pollution.

Hurray! Someone said it. Stupid bloody circumstances that aren't likely to ever happen being thrown out here to push some peoples points, just stop with it all. My god.

I believe the topic is Car VS Bike/Other

Which is used the most? Why would we use something that's worse compared to a Bike or something? We'd not. Cars are the best. Look i ended the argument without need for stupid examples, yay!

The only way bikes are better than cars is the fact that they're cheaper, good exercise, don't get stuck in traffic and they're easier to park or whatever you would do...

That's pretty much it.

I don't drive, I don't ride a bike.

I either walk or take a train.
