Check the sugar content of your cereal, anything 'honey/choc/etc' is going to be high in sugar. Even some of the so-called diet cereals are sugar laden. If you want to try something different try porage made with rolled oats, half milk & water and add a pinch of salt, the Scottish way

Egg is good, I'm sure I read somewhere that it takes more calories to digest an egg than it provides , but maybe not fried.
I have been losing weight slowly by just taking smaller portions of potatoes ( or main carb ingredient) and meat, and the will-power to only eat 1 small treat per day.
