Incidentally, for the people claiming it's a history book; The fact that the bible claims the world is about 6500 years old should be enough to tell you it is not factually accurate.

The bible is not a history book, it's a book used to dull cultural growth and the expansion of the human mind, a tool for keeping the masses dim-witted and subservient to the ruling ecclesiarchy. It is not historically accurate, it is not true, and there is no God.

First off the Bible is only 2000 years old, second how can it not be accurate if man wrote it?
also, what proof do you have that there isnt a God?

Science.

Science is beginning to prove that god does not exist to many people. Is it to me? Possibly it is, but I do have faith in god because I don't see what I'm gaining by not believing in god. What proves that god does exist? The only thing that proves god exists at this time being is the bible and people's beliefs and stories. It's very debatable, but like I said I still have some faith and belief in it.

Also, an interesting thing that could be said; what if god invented/created science?

I didn't claim the bible was 2000 years old. I highlighted that the Bible claims the world is about 6500 years old, or something similarly ludicrous. L2/read.

Everything written by man is not accurate. There is an entire genre of literature - Fiction - Written on the basis of the stories told not being true. Even so, many non-fiction books are inaccurate, look at the sodding Bible for one.

What proof do i have that there is no God? Well, evolution for one. The probable scenario of the Big Bang for another. Scientific explanations as to why we are here with tangible proof. They (in the case of the Big Bang) might not be perfect, but at least they have pure physical proof of their existence, as opposed to a 2000 year old book which is so obviously untrue it doesn't even bear saying anymore. Evolution however, is undeniable. It happened, it's happening now and it will always happen so long as there is life in an environment. There is no God.

The New Testament is 2000 years old.

Now, for murderdood.

Ahead of time, I just want to point out, as many know I [i]am[/] a Christian, and I believe in Creationism and so on. I am just about twelve years old, and get deeply offended reading this... I've reported a few posts here, but apparently no one has the motive to delete them.

For someone who doesn't believe in Him, why do you "know" so much about the Bible? Have you even[i]read[\i] it? Thats like giving a book you've never read a review. How do you know that we evolved? Wouldn't it be odd if just...well...nothing exploded and created an earth that just happends to be not too close and not too far away from a major light and heat source? Or are you just going to say its a coincidence? And from the earth being created, animals suddenly changed over time? If we evolved from monkeys, why are are monkeys still around?

Now, I'm going to share with you guys something I haven't told many people.
At our church, we have a prophet come annually. A prophet is someone who was given a gift from God to be able to speak or hear things from Him, and tells us, from God, our full potentials and tells us what we can do and what gifts we have.

Here are a few basic facts from me:

Over the years, I've found an interest in law and order. I always wanted to be in politics. In a few grades, I was voted Future President in class elections.

When I was younger, I had taken lessons for a few instruments. Guitar, piano, clarinet....until just last year, in the Beginning Band, I took trumpet. Now, I'm in the Advanced Band. I'm the only sixth grader in the school who can play "Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End" at an advanced level.

Last year, my parents bought me a 50" plasma screen television for my room. Here's a picture: http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/1551/img2035nq9.jpg

Finally, as all of you should know, I do live in England, but I'm an American.

Here's what the prophet said to me. (Disclaimer: I have [i]never[i] met this man in my life.)

"First off, I see a large television or computer screen in front of you.

Now, as I told a previous person, you've got a potential in politics...like..lawyer or a judge.

You're already musically talented, but I picture you even more...developed and experienced with many instruments.

Finally, I...I don't know what it is...but its you and your family...and...Europe. I don't know how its going to fit into place, but its you and Europe, says the Lord."

Okay, I just want to end this with this final part here:
Religion never can and never will be proven. That would make it a science. You wouldn't feel the spirit of the Lord, because you'd be forced to. So its a religion, which literally means "set of beliefs."

Hoo-boy, a religious debate!

It is indeed true that there is no proof that God exists, or proof that it doesn't. There will never be.

However we can talk about chances whether he exists or not. Let's see.

Evolution. A thing that fits so perfectly that it is hardly believed to be faked. Of course it CAN be faked, but why would it? Because some riddiculous scientist chose to oppose God and created a theory to be an alternative?

I doubt so. And then again, religion claims that a divine force, God, created everything. However there is no evidence of such a thing happening, apart from the Bible. Which is a book. 90% of books are fiction (Not accurate statistics). And having evolution theory around and all the evidence that's been found to support it, would you really believe a book more, a book that was written 6500 years ago?

Well, I wouldn't.

And then, for the second thing.

God. What is God anyway? A divine thing that controls everything that happens.

How ironic it is, the whole "God" thing was created thousands of years before Christian God was created. If God existed, it would mean that there is a thing that is by some riddiculous chance alike to the things in Roman and Greek mythology, that were believed in thousands of years ago before Christian God even appeared, as I already mentioned.

Even with that said, I have no problems with people who believe in God. Just as long as they don't come praising their beliefs to me.

I'd just like to let you know that at the highlighted points i stopped taking you seriously. But i'll answer the rest of your points.

I have read the bible, not in full, true, but several of it's books. Genesis is interesting - It highlights exactly how many people are getting to heaven, fyi 144,000 virgin jew males.

It would be odd. It would be very odd. But you have to take into account the scale of the universe, here. Even if there was a 1 in a billion chance of this planet being created, a planet capable of supporting life, their would still be hundreds of planets like earth. The universe is huge beyond comprehension, chance dictates that somewhere, another planet like ours might exist. It's entirely possible.

Astronomers estimate there are 10^22 - 10^24 stars in the universe. With a conservative estimate of three planets per star (some could have many more, some would have none at all) this puts the estimated number of planets into millions of billions. Therefore, with a one in a billion chance of life supporting planets, we've got an even bigger number of possible planets than i estaimted previously - We have literally millions of possible planets.

EDIT: And that's only planets like earth. Planets that can support prokaryotic and eukaryotic life. What if there are other forms of life, forms which we can't even imagine as they can't survive on our planet? I'm positive that there is life somewhere else in the universe.
How did i know we evolved? Well, for one i've got a relatively good education in biology, and fully intend to go on to study a related topic at university in about 5 months. I understand the mechanisms behind natural selection and adaptation, i understand how it works. I, unlike many naive creationists, understand that evolution does not literally mean that a monkey gave birth to a human. That is a ridiculous preconceived notion that is false. Minute genetic variations that gave the species a slight advantage over millions of years gave rise, eventually, to a species unable to procreate with other "monkeys", vague term i know, which repeated the process several times until we're here.

If you genuinely want me to explain evolution and natural selection properly, i will, but it will take up a lot of page space.

What you have there is a money hungry evangelist who has realised that by fooling people into thinking he carries the word of God he can make money from their gullability.

God will never be proven as it simply does not exist. There is nothing to be proven. If God is real, i challenge it to strike me down where i stand, like it supposedly did to many, many people thousands of years ago.

If God was real, it would take a hand in things like it supposedly used to according to the bible. Look at the old testament - God taking a hand everywhere. God striking Sodom from existence, God granting his hungry followes the plague, God telling people how to mark slaves, God flooding the world for the crack, etc etc ad infinitum. Even in the New testament he gives a direct hand, by resurrecting jesus. Surely, if God was real, it would still take direct action upon the world it created?

But no, whenever you hear of something God did, it is either a) By word of mouth. or b)Attributed to something that humans did "God healed my sister when she had cancer","God gave my mate barry a job", etc, etc.

God is not real. It is simply unconcievable that a being with unimaginable power simply sits back and does nothing. Ever. It's "I'm not touching you" on a cosmic scale, it's simply childish. There are places which "sin" worse than the supposed Sodom ever did, but has your sky god done anything to them? No. There are people who have "sinned" worse than anybody in biblical time ever did - Example, Josef Stalin killing around 20-30 million Russians, depending on which source you cite. Surely, if God was real, he would have been killed in a spectacularly brutal way for being a minion of Satan or something? No, he died of heart problems at the grand old age of 75.

God is not real.

What does other planets with life have to do with there isnt a God?
YOu can be a Christian and believe that there are ther life forms out there. The Bible doesn't say that believing in Aliens is wrong.

More importantly, you need to prove that something actually does exist.

A book written by Man does not prove God's existence.

I was attacking his argument about the chances of another planet with the correct environment for life existing, as this one was made by divine will. I was proving it was, if not likely, quite statistically feasible that another planet may well exist which is able to support life.

You don't need to prove something exists?
And the Bible isnt the sole reason to believe in God, since people did believe in him before the Bible was written and all..

Saying that something doesn't need proving is just idiocy of the highest caliber.

People didn't believe in the Abrahamic God (I'm assuming your god) before the Bible was written, as the Old Testament is taken directly from the Torah, ergo the Jews believe in the same god as you. People didn't believe in that God before that was written, though. Other deities ruled over various societies, which tended to be pantheistic.

Your bible is the only piece of "evidence" that you Christians have for your beliefs, and it's been proven wrong several times.

God does not exist.

OK, at least we have Evidence?
What evidence do you have besides "I cant see him" There is a reason that the Bible and the Koran are the highest selling books int he world. Lies dont sell..

We have evolution.

It disproves God's existence and also has a lot of evidence supporting it.

But let's take your examples, too. Yes, we cannot see him. Neither we have heard a single case where evidently someone has heard him speak since the times of the Bible, but as said, you can't prove that it happened.

Lastly, you claim that lies don't sell. Then how come Lord of the Rings, which is entirely fiction, is one of the best selling books in the world?

A book is not evidence. And God does not exist.
