Canada played a pretty big part in World War 2. Though not as easily noticable as their efforts in Vimy ridge and using their own urine as protection against the poison gas.

In Vimy Ridge, a bunch of attacks by British and French troops were sent, but they all failed. The Canadians defied the orders from Britain and improvised a plan and ultimately took down Vimy ridge with minimal casualties.

They urinated in cloths and used them as shields for their noses and mouths against the poison gas. Due to chemical reactions based around the ammonia in the urine, All they breathed in was some smelly salt concoction which was generally harmless.

As for World War 2, they led the attack on Juno Beach during D-Day. But if not for their attempted invasion in Dieppe (which failed miserably, keep in mind), Then they wouldn't know what strategies the Germans used and wouldn't know what to do during the invasion. They found out what the germans were made of and put that into a plan.

They improvised with their navy as well, using whaling ships to take down the German U-boat navy.

When you think about it, we're masters of improvisation when it comes to war.

However, during World War 1, they were being led by the British and ended up as their own army; The Canadian Corps, which was led by Arthur Currie, who was knighted later on. Another bad part was when Canada passed the conscription law. It nearly tore our country apart and we were being pressured by the other countries that they needed more Canadian troops.

Fortunately, we didn't tear ourselves to pieces. When the Conscription law passed again during World War 2, everyone understood the seriousness of the situation and didn't revolt.

... Yeah, I actually don't mean any offense or anything...

Now that you bring some of those thing up I remember them quite vividly especially the "urine coated gas masks". Things like this makes me proud to be Canadian.

Yeah Canada landed 15,000 troops, plays a major roll in dday. But ill have to see some facts on the Third largest navy. America had the largest, then japan then germany then canada. Japan had a massive navy and germany had a massive uboat fleet. 120 ships is a nice sized navy but not enough to hold the rank of third.

Edit* i looked it up, its true. During the years of 1945-1950 Canada had the worlds third largest navy...
1.U.S Navy
2.U.K. Royal Navy
3.Royal Canadian Navy
