i understand why, but i think its kinda funny they dont even know where its going or what its going to do and already they are freaking out. if i lived there i would stay for a few more days to just see what its going to do.

i agree with them getting the critters out of the shelters already though, it takes a lot longer to get them out then it does people.

this may sound harsh but..
i dont really feel bad for anyone that lives down there, if you live in a bowl by the water..what do you think is going to happen? 'man' can build anything to TRY and stop mother nature but its not going to last forever.

My best friend used to live there and visits every summer. And now he wants to go to college there. If there's another hurricane, I'm not going to let him XD

Isn't there plenty of other places in the States that people don't live in?
So they lived there the rest of there lives, if this bound to happen this amount of times. Don't you think they be smart enough and move somewhere else?

There are parts of America that dont have electricity. The plains of west are vastly unpopulated. We may be big but some of our land isnt ready to be lived on. For example, i live 19 Miles north of the biggest city in Kentucky, Louisville. I live in Indiana and there is some parts of Southern Indiana that have no "City Water" or "City Sewer", so water is trucked in and stored in tanks and they have septic tanks which have to be pumped out. For as far as why people dont just leave New Orleans, there dirt poor. They have no way to move, they live of the government. Ive been to New Orleans, and the the city part is nice, but the lower 8th ward and so on looked like a third world country, not a major American city.

I get what you're saying, but I'm not saying start a new town or something. That just creates problems, just look at Canadaville. Ever see the documentary on that?
I know these people are dirt poor. But they more then likely have had hurricane issues before. If I was ever in New Orleans, and in that situation, I would be saving everything I could just so I could leave and live somewhere not as unstable weather wise. Like right now I've been trying my hardest to move out.(personal issues) It's hard yes to save up but overtime I figure I could do it. The only thing thats been stopping me is school. I don't have a stable job. I do factory work, I could work all one week then one day the next. I'll do morning shift one week then afternoons next.
But thinking of it now I think it just comes down to there will power, how badly they want to do it and what there willing to go through to get what they want.

Im not american so I dont know a lot, but they built pheonix in a naturally inhospitable place, so why cant other parts of america be inhabited. Although I do understand what your saying about them being poor, we've covered that a lot with why people still live along the san andreas fault in geography.

You really have to question now how often this is going to happen to them, and if it's worth rebuilding or just abandoning it and moving everyone to a safer place.
