Wow, I wasn't aware that phising was going on skype. I've seen something similar to that on hotmail. Which is one of the main reasons why I don't use Hotmail anymore because it's become a sort of scamming/phising site imo unlike the past where you never saw issues of such things happening.

I like how the "affected software" thing just like lists ones you're likely to be using lol.

Would receiving phishing e-mails on hotmail be like because of Hotmail though? That they suck at stopping them? Lol I've never received one on Hotmail so I'd assume it would be because of where you enter your e-mail and stuff but I don't know anything about e-mail stuff.

I don't get spam emails either, but maybe Google's filter is that good.

Is it an email? If so, then it's no different than the other ones i get from WoW, Facebook, Norton, Apple, Microsoft, etc...who aren't really those companies.

Oh yeah I get an e-mail in the junk folder everyday from "Blizzard" telling me I either need to validate my WoW account, e-mail, or that my WoW account has been locked. XD I didn't even use that e-mail for WoW LoL

I don't get phishers or scammers via Skype, because I set it to contacts only. I just get creeps adding me hoping to chat.

I've never got anyone trying to phish my account. I used to get the "apply for mod PMs". They shut up after I went to Tetralink, Mod Matt P turned up, and we had a chat while he banhammered them :P

Conversation => block => report abuse

Also under Options => Privacy Settings => Only allow people in my contact to contact me

Go to Advanced => mess around.

Problem solved. I've not had another spam message in quite a while after doing this.

i dont know too much about skype, i only use it to talk to a few friends who have moved away. But what reason could people have for phishing on skype and what would they gain from it, other than having a new way to mess with people?

Why wouldn't there be a reason to phish on Skype? Not like people who use Skype have a greater ability to recognize that such a message is not real and that the links would be dangerous compared to any other online service.
What's to gain is like from infecting their computer to gaining their financial information or other info depending what online services the person uses or the info the site asks for if they actual give them the info.

true didnt even think of that. i'm not really used to the idea of people doing financial things on their normal computers. My dad does all my family's finances on a special computer because he is paranoid of stuff like that, lol. But i would think there would be ways to get more people's information if you are going to do anything, like through facebook or even youtube.
