The people who say that a black hole will form and gobble up the entire earth are just nuts, although the explosion when the particles collide is immense the scale that the explosion is on wouldn't really do anything other than set off hundreds of sensors and computers, to notify scientists of the results.
yes, but it just sounds much much better if you say we are all going to die.
even if its not true.
Totally agree with that lol, it's just possibilities to keep your head occupied ^^

People that are afraid of the LHC causing the world to be swallowed up by black holes are probably the same people who thought the world was going to end in the year 2000 because the calendars on computers would reset to 1900.
That's a bit different tho, it was only a theory that computers had the knowledge capable of doing weird stuff (or whatever it was idk) but they aren't smart enough to do much damage/change time or anything. It's just 0's and 1's displaying different things on the screen and whatnot.
This is meddling with physics and something we don't know enough about to come to any solid conclusion. For all we know it could do absolutely nothing, make a black hole as some say, teleport the particles and the machine through time or whatever your imagination can come up with.
You could say it will just cause a little explosion or *poof*... but we don't know. Just like how cars evolved, scientists first thought you would break your neck or crush your organs at 35 mph but now we've gotten to double the speed of sound (concordes) and nothing devastating yet. Once we test the speed of light we might find something different but till then we won't know.
