As the 'newly-joined' senior citizen here, may I interpret the first post.
The lady was right in general, wrong in specifics. She had her pipes broken by kids on sleds the year before, so she didn't want it to happen again. You were a kid on a sled. Maybe to her all kids look alike

Maybe last years kids had been disrespectful to her when they broke her pipes.
May I suggest a real mature way forward? The next time you see her, be polite, make a greeting but make sure it is sincere. We 'old people' can be real useful and interesting at times
The crossing patrol had called a bus forward and he sees a kid starting to cross the road. Squashed kids are not good for his job or his blood pressure so he was doing his job when he yelled at you (saved your life or legs) there wasn't time for "Please would you wait at the kerb, young man"
But do feel free to moan at this old lady about other oldies. ....... Now if you met my brother-in-law ,,,,,,,,,, cough, cough
