I disagree there. Children at a certain age need to be physically punished if they have ever done something wrong. Of course if the offense is minor then there really isn't any need. However, if he/she is rude to his/her parents for example... Then they need to be slapped.

Explaining to them what is right and wrong might give them the idea that they're basically off the hook and might do it again. Whereas if you slap the child on the behind or the back of the legs, he/she will think twice about mis-behaving again.

Yes, beating children is an old tradition. However, I believe, it was created because people didn't want to or just couldn't afford to spend too much time talking to their children. Beating is a quick solution which does not require any kind of mental effort. While, it is obviously one of the ways to have it done, it is not the only one and it is not the best one either. In modern world parents really have a choice: they can do what their parents did to them or they can decide to really spend time with their children. It is a personal choice, of course, but more and more parents choose not to beat their children now.

Warren? Oh wait, he's 13 or 14.

That's still a kid to me. I view you as a child until you hit 18 tbh, same as I'd treat my children. XD They'd still be a child till they hit 18.

did you want people to view you as a child until you were 18?
though not....

Everyone says 'Yes I'd be harsh on my children and blah blah blah' but I bet most of you will be pretty lenient parents. My father always says to me how he was all psyched up to be a really strict father but when you have children how you act as a parent changes. I don't think anyone can say 'this is how I would treat my children' until you actually have them.

Although of course I'd try my best to show my children the difference between right and wrong and raise them to be respectful but also not afraid to say what they really think, even if it might not be 'respectful' and of course to learn when it is appropriate to say what you really think and when it is not.

Will you punish them if they swear out of frustration?
no because i swear too much myself, and who gives a crap about swearing anyway, who decided that a certain word will be "taboo" in general english chat.
Would you make them tidy their room?
to an extent, i dont care if its messy but if its unbearable even for me then i would.
Would you buy them treats if they demand them?
depends what it is, probably though.

a few of my mates have said id be a really good dad, so i wanna live up to that if i ever have a kid.

1. Will you punish them if they swear out of frustration?
2. Would you make them tidy their room?
3. Would you buy them treats if they demand them?

1. Depends on what the swearword was, and who it was directed at, etc.
2. I wouldn't make it spotless, but as long as I can see the florr, I don't care.
3. No. If they demanded something, then I would go out of my way, to make sure thay didn't have whatever they demanded, mainly because I can.

If I have a child(ren) then I would be quite a lenient parent, as long as they behaved themselves. Bu if they ***** me off, I wouldn't refrain from punishing them.

Oh, and physical punishment is so much more effective. Nothing involving beating a child or anything like that, but a smack round the back of the head wouldn't be the worst thing to have happened.
