He trying to get you to keep good grades, if you making a D- you wont be drafted as long as you stay in school

The following have to register for the draft

Non-Citizens
If you are a non-citizen on a student or visitor visa, you are not required to register. If you are a non-citizen who is part of a diplomatic or trade mission or their families, you are not required to register. Almost all other immigrants are required to register. For detailed information , see Who Must Register (chart from SSS website)

Dual Citizens
Men with dual citizenship in the U.S. and another country are required to register, regardless of where they live.

Hospitalized/Incarcerated
Young men who are in hospitalized, mental institutions, or prisons are not required to register
during the time that they are incarcerated/hospitalized. However, they are required to register within 30 days of being released if they have not yet reached their 26th birthday.

Disabled Men
Disabled men living at home are required to register if "they can reasonably leave their homes and move about independently." Even if you have a disability that would disqualify you from military service, you still are required to register.

Full-Time Military
Those serving in the military on active duty or attending service academies do not have to register. If you leave the military before you turn 26, you are required to register.

National Guard/Reserves
Members of the National Guard and Reserves not on full-time active duty are required to register.

Conscientious Objectors
Those who consider themselves Conscientious Objectors are still required by law to register. Once the draft is reinstated and you are called up, you will have the opportunity to file a claim for exemption from military service based on your beliefs.

A classification you get when you register
* 1-A - available immediately for military service.
* 1-O Conscientious Objector- conscientiously opposed to both types (combatant and non-combatant) of military training and service - fulfills his service obligation as a civilian alternative service worker.
* 1-A-O Conscientious Objector - conscientiously opposed to training and military service requiring the use of arms - fulfills his service obligation in a noncombatant position within the military.
* 2-D Ministerial Students - deferred from military service.
* 3-A Hardship Deferment - deferred from military service because service would cause hardship upon his family.
* 4-C Alien or Dual National - sometimes exempt from military service.
* 4-D Ministers of Religion - exempted from military service.
* Student Postponements - a college student may have his induction postponed until he finishes the current semester or, if a senior, the end of the academic year. A high school student may have his induction postponed until he graduates or until he reaches age 20. Appealing a Classification - A man may appeal his classification to a Selective Service Appeal Board.

Draft EXEMPTIONS

Student postponements are available for students in high schools, vocational schools, etc., who are age 20 or under.
#

College students can receive postponements until the end of the term, or of the year for seniors. Ministry students are exempt if in accepted divinity schools.
#

Physical Exemptions: Standards are complex and fill 23 pages of government manuals, but many are as common as hay fever, flat feet, or being overweight. Draft counselors have the whole list and can help you determine which you may qualify for.
#

Mental exemptions: Standards are also complex, but you do not have to be mentally ill to qualify. Some "mental problems" for the army are no problem in civilian life.
#

Hardship deferments are available if your absence would be a financial, emotional, or physical problem for your wife, children, parents, grandparents, sisters, or brothers.
#

Conscientious objectors are exempt from military service if they object to war in any form. You do not have to belong to any special church, or even be religious, as long as the objection is based on moral or ethical beliefs.
#

Women can not be drafted now, but if the draft is activated, Congress may decide to draft women. Keep informed, and be prepared to act quickly

*

your father, mother, sister, or brother died from service related injuries or ill ness during or after their service
*

you are a full-time minister (ordained or unordained), or a ministry student
*

you are a citizen of another country
*

you have been in the service, or in certain other government agencies
*

you do not meet moral standards
