A Rant on The Battlefield Series

I have played Battlefield 1942, Desert Combat mod, Battlefield 2 (a bit), Battlefield 2142 demo. So here is my rant so to speak...

Last night we (Mike and myself) took it upon ourselves to install the Battlefield 2142 demo. We thought it would be a great new game seeing as it is new and all. I have played a bit of Battlefield 2 and quite a bit of Battle Field 1942, both standard and Desert Combat mod.

Well the truth is that Battlefield 2142 and Battlefield 1942 feel exactly the same! Except for the fact that there are different weapons, vehicles, and the fact that it is 200 years later. The graphics don’t even look much better and before you say turn your graphics up, they were on high mode.

With it being the year 2142 I was expect energy weapons, not the projectiles that we are using now. A few days back on Discovery I was watching a show about future weapons and yes, these included lasers, sound devices, and energy weapons. Where are these in Battlefield 2142??

The whole point behind this post is that I feel the reason as to why there was Battlefield Vietnam, Battlefield 2, and Battlefield 2142 was because EA was feeling like they were missing out on revenue. The reason for this is because of the success of the popular Desert Combat mod for BF1942.

So this is definately a game that goes on the DO NOT buy list. I can get more entertainment from playing the original or another game.

I heard of this game few weeks back. So this is just the demo and the whole game hasn't been released yet?

Anysways i'll give the demo a try.

1 gig demo holy crap thats really big for a demo.

Ya i agree with what you said in the first post.

I have another questuon for the demo. For those who downloaded, who had very low speeds like say 39kb/sec? I had that but I looked around and found one DL at 450kb/sec. But still 1GB and only one map, imagine the whole game with an amzing 10 maps(notice the sarcaism), and more stuff to use. I haven't checked if they have the game out yet or not.
