Hi, my name is ollie, and I'm new to rsbandb.

Now, I'm not getting Alzheimer's yet, but it's become plainly obvious that I'm quite a bit older than good portion of the players. Mostly I don't mind this, I choose to play a game aimed at people slightly younger than me and have to deal with the fact I'm going to run into "juvenile" stuff now and then. However, it does get to you a bit after the 10th time of woodcutting while the guy next to you shouts "m0rn and bobee5 10l" at random or discovers creative ways to circumvent the censors for fun and profit...

This forum is living proof that there are many older, or at least more mature, players around, so this got me wondering - where do you hide? Is it just a case of level - at higher levels, is the general Runescape population easier to live with? Are there certain activities that tend to be better than others for near-human social interaction? Do you find mini game x or skill y tends to be played/practiced by older/more competent people? Are there certain things to AVOID?

P.S. This topic was not intended to be offensive to 13 year olds or younger in any way, I've met 9 year olds through RS that are cool and mature, and 20+ year olds that make me want to hurt them.

I think that the mature players just dont talk to people in the game. I get so annoyed that I just keep my public chat off tbh.

Welcome to the forums btw

What world do you usually play on?

If I'm understanding you correctly you want to know where we play in game? Well I can only speak for myself, because idk about the others, and tbh, sometimes we hide from each other. xD

Everywhere you go, there will always be noobs. (Referring to the people you described as noobs, lol don't get lost on me.)
I first suggest, goto worlds that aren't as common, 130s or 140s. Some of the higher numbered worlds.
Second, the only place that I know that will separate low levels from high levels is pest control, but even some high levels are noobs.
Besides pest control, I'm not aware of any other segregation in RuneScape.

So out of all that, I mainly suggest higher numbered worlds and use your ignore list. xD

Hope this helps. If not, I'm sure I'll see your reply.

Who's saying the discussion is over? Lol, lets discuss!
Edit: You asked, where do we hide? I replied, I hide in higher numbered worlds, sometimes with my private chat off, skilling.

Indeed

Ive been thinking they/us don't talk in public, but in harder to reach places like trouble brewing or God Wars.
Then again, maybe it pays to be mute :p

Edit:Let the stalking begin

Tbh/Imo, I wouldn't ever wish being muted onto yourself. =/ I hear it's almost worth quitting over.

Another place I forgot to mention is clan chat. If you can't find rsbandb forum members in game, you'll surely be able to talk to someone in the rsbandb clan chat.
rsbandb clan chat = type "Mike12088"

Interesting topic ... I used to think there were more 'less mature' players training combat, simply because it made them feel powerful over others, and they liked doing damage to pixels. Without the wilderness this might not be true anymore.

The worlds make a little difference, but I'll look at it in terms of magic trees. There are magic trees south of Seer's Village, that everyone can easily access with 75 woodcutting ... so people get bored easily and decide to be immature. The trees in elven land are a little ways from the bank, require some difficult quests to get to, and it's harder to navigate to and from them, so there's not many people, yet if there are they're mostly mature.

It's a tradeoff though .. I can either go to Seer's and try to find someone to talk to yet get annoying people .. or go to elven land and find someone mature to talk to or be bored out of my mind. Oh and of course, most banks in populated cities are full of immaturity due to the player age base and the need for everyone to go there .. sadly :|

First off welcome to RSBANDB!

Well, being the only perm mute that i know of in this community i will say that there are a lot of very immature people in Runescape. I was very immature TWO years ago when i was permanently muted. I obviously have matured a lot since then but now that i think back it sure is fun to talk. NEVER think that it would be better to be perm mute. I have learned that if you do not want to hear the completely idiotic comments that people say than turn all chat except private off.

As for why this community is much more mature than the average runescape player base is becuase people here care enough to express there concerns about the game and actually TALK like real people about it and don't just complain about pking or something.

Power Crazy

Welcome to rsbandb Ollie,

I being well above the targeted age group for RS mainly talk to friends via cc in game and via TS (teamspeak). I cannot believe that using higher numbered servers would be any better than the lower numbered ones. I mainly am on world 60.

I see it as mainly the skills your selecting to do. Areas I avoid to attempt to be clear of the mindless banter is the fishing guild, mage trees south of seers, or fishing from catherby.

Seek out other options for those skills. Fishing for monk is good, but the younger "minded" looser lipped players are making their ways to that area as well. I tend to chop mage trees in the Gnome stronghold. I still try to fish for monks mainly due to the speed of the xp. If it gets bad there, I just turn off my chat and keep on fishing. Or just flat out ignore them.

Dont dispair as there are MANY elder statesmen playing RS.

As Elmtree stated, there are many of us. We are more numerous than most players would guess and play "everywhere". Most older players are on to play the game (1) and chatting privately with other older players (2), instead of, as many younger players will tell you, are on mainly to socialize (1) while playing (2). At least, thats how I see it

Welcome to B & B. 8)

Exactly, if someone tries to talk to me in leetspeak and other variations, or with terrible grammar (I'm a little lenient), I just ignore them. Private chat set to friends and usually Clanchat set as viewable, that way I don't get spammed with Public Chat and Game Messages.

I train Slayer a lot, so most of the time I'm fighting high level monsters. At places no immature low levels will go.

Ya , most people on RSBandB ClanChat are mature, so just keep your chat icon on Chat. :)
