One of the most common answers to the question:
"Why is Runescape looked at as a child's game?'
is the sensoring system.
Everyone is limited to what they can say. You can't express any moods or feelings about certain topics properly. You can't even say some common phrases because it might have "fking" in it or some other grouping of letters.
That's what my suggestion is about.
Whenever you first start to play Runescape you're probably free to play. You don't pay a single cent to Jagex for the probably the best game you can play without paying. But you still shouldn't have the right to turn the sensoring system on or off.
Why? Because there are to many people (not saying kids because older people abuse this just as much) that will abuse the system and or lie about their age.
But in Members there is a much easier way to set up a system to turn the filter on and off. Members have to pay or have someone pay for them.
In most cases any younger person will have to have one of their parents fill the subscription. This is where you can get them to either choose
1) Yes, this file can choose to have the filter on or off
or
2) No, this file must have the filter on.
It's a simple way to show that Runescape isn't just for kids.
But, you ask:
"What about those who have the choice to have it? I don't want to be cussed out in game by random people who do it just because they want to."
The fix for this is to have a certain limit of times you can bypass the filter a minute or hour or day. Say 5 time a minute, this would make it to where you can have a heated argument but also wouldn't be filled with a lot of swear words. If the person was to do this they would get a warning and then if the person continues to rant on they would recieve a 30 minute warning and a tally mark. The tally marks would add up until they had a certain number and would recieve a punishment like a day with the filter on and so on.
Just this simple thing like this would make Runescape more appealing to a more mature audience.
