Summoning? My Favorite Skill??????

I like it as well. At least using the familiars - some of which are really useful. But i'ts so costly for shards when you get higher in the levels.

Summoning is defniitly an interesting skill. It's a good idea. Hard and expensive to lvl. dunno what i think of it...

It's good yes, but I still diagree that it's combat related.

I mean, the only reason I use it is for the free run energy and extra spaces on my terrorbird. Combat-wise, it can't even hit its max (6) accurately and attacks slow as hell.

I agree... sort of. Summoning was made to be used by skillers and combat nubs, like myself. Though for the most part, summoning familiars to actually fight is rare and those who do use summoning while fighting typically only use those with extra bag space or leet healing powahz like the Bunyip. Jagex should have made it so a familiar could attack any monster which was attacking you, not only allow them to fight in multi combat areas.

I'm getting to like it too. And I've resigned myself to the fact that it will take the rest of my life to get a decent level. (This skill is slow!!!) I've even stooped to using all the green charms I get. I don't care about the cost. I can't get the charms fast enough to break the bank. Also, I can high alch the pouches to recover about half the cost. That's what I tell myself. What I don't tell myself is that I'll be high alching 'til the cows come home if I want to see that gc again.

On using them... I'm no expert. But here's how I use them when fighting.
1) I attack a monster.
2) I summon my follower (the whistle), no matter how close it might be.
3) I immediately switch and attack a second monster, then a third.
4) I let my follower figh and kill the 1st monster all by its self.

As far as I can tell, I get slayer credit for my follower's kills, even if I've only hit a few hp on it myself.

The benefit of this method: I don't kill (or almost kill) the monster while I'm waiting around for my follower to attack it.

I do almost the same as Jake when using Hydras for combat. Nice thing is they get me range and slayer xp, which is what I'm trying to level.

I just think if it's a true skill to add to combat stats it should be able to used in all areas and not just multi-combat areas.

Yes, it's quite frustrating that familiars only attack in multi combat but I can see why Jagex made it so.
I'd probably start training summoning hardcore if I could use my familiars on EVERY task not one or two.

Meh, the charm gathering is tedious, and the shards are expensive, but the actual training is rather enjoyable.

Oh, I dunno. While it does get rather expensive later on because of the shards, it's more of the reward-worth that each level gives you, like prayer and construction does. Totally worth doing, if you ask me.

However, I'm all for thinking that once you can summon a bunyip or tortoise, it's not worth training heavily anymore unless you really want to show off. Again, just like construction.

In any case, good luck with your training. Remember to do the Tears of Guthix, too.
