Is it just me, or have Jagex in the past few months dedicated their updates to a younger age?

There is no need for a sdtronghold of "safety" or "securtiy"! Anyone with half a brain cell can work out the stuff that they tell us in these dungeons. What an emote as well, "safety first" sorry that's just a tad bit sad.

[/frustration vent]

I am still in shock from completeing this update, I really have a feeling that Jagex question their you (8-) nephews about what their updates should be about.

Sorry Jagex, win me back with something good or I'm leevng soon...

It's more than the past few months, try the last year.

Remember when they introduced the cartoon emote drawings?
Remember when they changed the whole interface, along with skill symbols to a more cartoon look?
Remember when they added the "XP to next level", for people who can't use calculators?

They've been trying to appeal to younger players for a while now, and can you blame them? It's the younger players that will run to their mommy's asking for a Runescape/FunOrb membership.

Those security and safety strongholds are just to make sure people can't sue them.

To be totally honest, I don't think it matters to Jagex much if you leave or not.

I don't understand the people who complain about the majority of updates. Sure, the trade limit and wilderness removal were one thing, but to complain about small updates like this that isn't preventing you from what you enjoy is quite low.

How many people play RuneScape just for updates anyway? I play for what's already there, updates are just something I take a look at and if I'm interested... I'll go check it out. If not, I brush it aside.

I'm like that too. 99% of the time I'll read what the update is then continue to do whatever I was doing in the first place. I've never been to Daggonoth Kings, Godwars Dungeon, hell I've never been to the Fishing Colony. It takes a lot from an update to actually make me want to check it out.

The only update I have ever complained about is the Grand Exchange, but it's not an update you can just avoid. The GE changed the whole economy, and in a bad way.

In my 4 years of Runescape, this is the third time I have ever complained about an update, I am rarely a person to down Jagex about their updates. Yes I know my leaving won't change anything, but as more and more older players leave, the Runescape community will go into a further decline.

What my concerns are mostly based on are how they change the game to attract a younger audience and, well really, push away their veterans.

The removal of Customer Support, skill icons, easier interface, SKILL TUTORS, SECURITY STRONGHOLD, SAFETY STRONGHOLD being the worst.

In reply to the complaining of small updates, this may sound a tad selfish, but as I am obsessive compulsive about things I.e all emotes, I had to experience this update, and well, it really left me feeling shocked and immediately afterwoulds and I'm planning on getting back on for a few days. I usually have long breaks now anyway, the GE and Wilderness have effected me too severely.

Also, it's not a small update here and there, they make them weekly - poor quests, needless updates about safety when they could be fixing other things (this is the worst part)

This is true, Runescape's mindset is now on money and not the players, and since the majority of Runescape's players are under 13, Jagex will try to appeal to them more in order to keep their subscriptions coming.

Indeed, the standards do keep dropping. I still love what is left of 'old' Runescape too much to quit though. *sigh*...

Little Kids who play don't even know how to read properly yet? Let's make a new entirely picture-based interface!

Little Kids get scammed and whine? Let's make a "Grand" Exchange and control all economic activity!

Little Kids don't have the patience or determination to skill and whine? Let's make everything in runescape "do x"!

Little Kids get killed in the wild and lose their stuff and whine? Let's remove it!

Little Kids like lame java-based games? FunOrb!!!

But what did such a Teuton afterwards look like when he had been "improved" and led into a monastery? Like a caricature of a human being, like an abortion: he had become a "sinner," he was in a cage, one had imprisoned him behind nothing but sheer terrifying concepts... There he lay now, sick, miserable, filled with ill-will towards himself; full of hatred for the impulses toward life, full of suspicion of all that was still strong and happy. In short, a "Christian"... - Twighlight of the Idols

As for what's left- all that I can think of is your characters face and a few bits of terrain, of course the fall-mats while fighting will be released soon and if your hp falls under 99% you are rushed to Rs-hospital where trained doctors shove anti-poisins and cooked sharks down your throat.

As for all your points, I couldn't agree more, especially the funorb one =D>

This is true, if anyone old enough to care about their account, and knows it's not safe without proper procedures to ensure it's safety, would do all of this beforehand. They wouldn't need an update to get 10k and 1k exp from some lamps to remind them to take care of the safety of their account.

Of course Jagex thinks that we are all 10 and want to baby us, like they don't want us to get hurt. But if people would actually play the game at age 13+, we wouldn't seem like a complaining 2 year old all the time, and maybe have some order in Runescape.

I dont see why everyone is complaining for stuff like that. New updates has good and bad sides, Depending on which one you view it. Let's see

Good things
The New strongold - Ok you do it once, It takes under 10 mins then gtfo?
Wildy Removal - No more pjer,rc pker, barrager jerks
G.E - You dont have to say ''selling X item Xprice'' for ages to find a buyer
FunOrb - If you dont like it DONT PLAY IT FFS!
Make X - Made skilling more enjoyable and easier to level up

Now lets see the bad side

The New strongold - I dont see anything bad with it ?
Wildy Removal - Killed a big thing
G.E - Economy crash
FunOrb - uh? See above?
Make X - More people can get high level

Yes jagex ruined -somehow- runescape. But why complaining ? Theres still alot of stuff to do! No?
