When will it end?

way i see it, there are only 2 possible ways RS will end.

1) people will get sick of all the glitches, autoers, etc. and a ton of members will quit. Jagex will lose a ton of revenue, and will have to close down, thus ending RS.

2) A better game comes out and takes a huge majority of RS player, thus ending RS unless Jagex works day a night for a RS 3.

The legacy of runescape will continue, doubtlessly at that. Too many people play it, even with WoW, Guild Wars, and all the other games like them out there. I believe it wont die at all.

I don't think it will end soon, it will end if people stop playing and people stop becoming members.

Let's calculate:

200,000 people are members in this game.

$5 x 12(months) = 60 dollars.

200,000 memebrs x 60 dollars a year =

12,000,000 million dollars a year.

That money is for updates, so the only way they do lose money is if people cancel memberships, which is aboout 7,000 (estimate) a year. They gain about 50,000 members a year.

There is absolutley nothing to worry about

80,000x$60=$4,800,000 a year, alot smaller then 12mil. add paying all employess and servers, they dont make much.

thats 800,000 * $60 = $48,000,000

It won't rs3 will come out and then rs4...the game will go on for a very long time in various forms...the premise of the game is to valuable to drop. :wink:

I think a better game will eventually come out. WoW has taken lots of players. Better games will keeo coming, so unless Jagex make huge changes (graphics, interfaces, other...stuff), it will eventually get replaced

if he dies some1 will prob take over and wow i think rs ownz wow easy and graphics are not every thing to a game as u can tell from 500k ppl that play rs

I don't think so...

Jagex said themselves SOMEWHERE they aren't coming out on RS3. I think it's on RuneScape Forums but i'm not sure i'll have to check.

I suppose if the stock market crashes, JaGeX may fall (if its a publicly traded corporation...) and RuneScape will cease to exist, but many people start playing this game every day (go to Lumby on a free world) and a lot of them go on to become members. RuneScape has gained many more players since it was first unveiled, and will continue to gain more and become more profitable for JaGeX for years to come.

Wrong, If the stock market crashes jagex might be a little better off.
Jagex is LLC, Limited Liability Company. There is no stock for them. They are complitely private owned by androw and his brother (Rich busterds).

Unlike them, Games like WOW or everquest might get hit pritty bad.

We are all living in an age where the detail and graphics of games are improving at such a rate, I believe that unless Jagex plans to make something a that surpasses RS2 graphically, or add something to RS2 that will render everything else boring, runescape will not be around much longer.

Not because of lack of players.
Not because of lack of funds.
Not because any of us wants it to.

It's because Runescape is falling behind in both graphics and excitement.

When Runescape is updated, very rarely is it something I decide to move away from the magic trees to go and take a look at.

I like to play runescape, but very recently, I've found myself buying games simply because they look better than runescape.

True, people who can't afford games which are graphically better than runescape are attracted to the game because 1) it's cheap, and 2) it doesn't require the best graphics card, but lets face it;

How long until those people upgrade their computers?
How long until those people want something more exciting?

I say, it won't be long.

It wont last thats the sad thing. well all know we will grow up eventaly and the greats. (leaders of high score bourds) or even great pkers move on. many move on to other games for better pvp(pkers) or for more graphical appeal and diffrent stats/leveling systems. even casual players like myself prefer somthing like the instince dungon system in WoW over RS's randome quests. and i prefer the build of that game for vaious reasons reps and mounts and noticble ranks mostly. but better games (free games 2) are slowly surrfacing and slowly the RS fan base will switch over and it will die. for us maby in a year or 2 for the new people maby in 3 or 5 years and evenaly for ever. ty
