I think Jagex makes Rares price go up only for people that really want to have them to play more and more at the game until they get crazy... What do you think about it? In about 2 years, i guess the cheaper Party Hat will be 200M. What do you think they will do? They surely won't make price go down...? I'm really confused about that fact.. Maybe there will be so many complaints, so the prices will go down... or maybe they will leave the prices as they are and make the prices go up and up and up and up until no players can buy them so they will be worthless because ''untradeable''(nobody would buy at these horrible prices, would they?)...

Well, maybe i'm totally wrong but I find that the Jagex company is really hypocritical and there will be a problem about the prices in a year or two. And i'm totally confused about what they're going to do about it..

Thanks for telling your opinion(I'm Totally wrong or you think the same way than I do? or you got another point to talk about?)

Jagex doesn't make the prices go up, the players do. The rich nubs alch or drop or somehow get rid of rares so there are less, therefore the price goes up. Personally, I find this stupid. In which situation would you get more money:

You alch one phat, the price goes up 20m.

You sell both phats, and both are worth more than 20m.

Obviously, it's the second one. But people as rich as them couldn't care less about the not-as-fortunate people. Party hats achieved an all time high recently, I think. Last I checked Blues were about 50-60m (which is a little bit rediculous in itself). Last week I checked again and I was told they're over 100m!

That's the problem with dicontinueds. Eventually there will only be one of each phat left, or very, very few. Let's see what happens to rare, but not discontinued items.

You have two dragon chains. You alch one. How stupid was that? Very stupid. You could have sold both for 20m or so, but you barely got a fraction of that when alching. The price of the chains did not rise at all because people still have acess to new ones via the Kalphite Queen, Dust Devils and any other ways to get them I don't know about. The price of dragon chains will eventually bottom out or keep dropping. Either one is okay with me, I don't really care.

But when items such as party hats and maybe masks and santas too top the charts at 100m+ per item, there really needs to be something done. If Jagex does make then untradeable, many, many merchants will be outraged. Many people will be joyous. You can't really please everyone, but if it comes down to where even the cheapest discontinued item reaches such an outrageous price, that section of the RuneScape economy will crash on itself. Once they run out of items to destroy and the price maxed, everyone might want to sell. Who knows? Maybe no one will sell. But, my point is, when it gets down to the bottom of things discontinued items are fun for now but will eventualy become a hassle.

Moved to General Discussion, I saw no media :?

Jagex doesn't have anything to do with Runescape item prices, the players do. All Jagex wants is the money the players give.

Who says they are getting any rarer. Maybe people just retire or the hats get put away. This doesn't mean that just cause they aren't selling...they are being destroyed.

im confused how this helps with the topic at hand :?

anyways, like the rest said, jagex does not control prices in the market place, they could if they really wanted too..

I have a red phat (not bragging, i have a point to this).

I paid 41.5mil for this phat, yes that was alot of money, but over time its not longer just an item i wanted to merchant, i actually like it. It shows i worked hard for it and earnt it.

So im never gonna sell my red, my point is, not all the phats will go out of runescape unless jagex removes them. Its going to suck if they make them untradable. In my honest opinion, if you can afford one to merchant, or just to keep because you like it, then go ahead while you can before the prices go to high.

Remember the little update of, oh only about what? 15,000 runescape autoers banned? Do you know how many party hats were lost when they did that? I think thats one of the most stupidest things Jagex has ever done. We all want to kill Jagex when they do something like that and then one day later we all praise them when they release...a shiny new weapon. I think Jagex needs to control their updates. Its making rediculous inflation problems.

---

Bull ****. (self censored) :o

Jagex banned tons of autoers, these people had millions of gp, and phats etc.

Now there are less rares.

Rare prices go up.

Jagex makes prices go up -.-

(I'm not saying Jagex shouldnt have banned them )

Jagex influences every single price in runescape.
Why is a bronze dagger worth 1gp and not 10? Because you get it free from tutorial island.
Why is a dragon hatchet, (slightly better than rune hatchet) worth 3 million gp? Because JAGEX made it so hard to get.

Ooh, guess what?

Dragon 2 Handed Sword this month, I wonder, the new monster, bigger and badder than kbd.. going to be so much harder to kill. Oh, :o and its in the wilderness!!

I predict say, 25 million in the first few days, it will drop to around 20m. Then Jagex will realise theyve 'done it again' and do something to make it easier to get - reducing the price to 10m - ish.

BUT!!

If jagex hadnt have made ANOTHER mistake in making an item too hard to get, the price would have started at around 10m, and dropped to a reasonable price such as 3-4m (much like the whip)

But I do agree with one thing...

Jagex are hypocrites.

Every time a rare disapears (high alched, sold to store, then disapears from there, dropped or gone because the acc is closed by jagex), the supply vs demand ratio will change in favor of demand. It doesn't take a mastermind to figure out that if there's 100 buyers and 10 items, the price will be ~around what the 10th buyer pays, bit more probably. If there's 5 hats, the 5th buyer's price will be what all of them will go for. Well not really, as it's such a low number, but if we multiply the number by lets say 1k..

You have some good points there, but what I honestly think is that Jagex can influence the prices but they do not set or regulate them (rares, discontinueds..bronze daggers will never be worth much due to the fact that all accounts can make them). Banning the accounts that autoed and had phats on them only made the proce jump because the players are willing to pay more for a less available item

i know, i want rares not because of merchanting, i want to keep em too.

edit: i agree the fact that autoers are now a problem with 2 facts
they auto, and they get banned with rares lol... These Autoers be damned pl0x
