They said there won't ever be? That guarantees that there will be. Just look at their history of things they said they won't do and you'll see that within a few years of saying it they happily do exactly what they vowed not to.
As for beta, I was not invited. It is sad that they shaft veterans in lieu of higher paying members. They should really invite players of completely varying specs, not just high end or 'the ideal player'. It is better to have the game playable by many different computers rather than just one.
From what I've heard it is nearly unplayable even on high grade computers. Not sure that I'd want to try it how it is currently though I would like to see how it plays before it is forced on us.
