You DID ask for an account, regardless of it was sarcastic of even a quote. Not everyone can read your mind.

YOU shot YOURSELF in the foot.

I'm behind Jagex on this one.

EDIT:
Please make sure you follow all Runescape rules in clan chat, we cannot control who reports you. Even joking about breaking runescape rules or giving out the URL to the site is a bad idea.

You're obviously wrong and you didn't read carefully at all.

It clearly says that Killer is tired of people asking him stupid stuff like ''hey can i have ur acc''. He didn't ask for one.

4th line up. It's the equivalent of Obama shouting Hitler annoys me. "I HATE JEWS".
And he was swearing/censor evading, so it's not like that was the only thing.

I guess 1 YEAR ban is a bit harsh, but he did say that he just got back on runescape the day before so a harsh retaliation should be expected.

As in speech you cannot see quotation marks, you are more likely to say "because of his 'I HATE JEWS' attitude" or "because he says, 'I HATE JEWS'". But if Obama wanted to rant about hitler online in chat speak style, I think the context there is correct... Is he not sarcastically imitating him?

Still, the way he wrote it, he is basically saying, "This guy starts annoying me every time i log on rs, 'Hey its me, are you quitting? Can I have your account?'" Minus how that is way to long to fit on one line in rs.

No one can read minds, that is why you set context. I suppose what good is that if no one wants to look for it, though. The report button is much more visible, and I would imagine the mute/ban button as well.

Not like you should be able to break the rules by putting things in quotes though. But if you clearly establish you are quoting someone and who before doing the quotes...
Not like using "Hey this guy said '*evasion*'" to bypass a censor evasion mute, but if you are like "Jay just pmed me and said, 'lol I actually macroed to 99 wc and 60% of cook' :s", you shouldn't be banned for macroing, should you?

i got a 3-day mute for saying my cat could hack runescape accounts. im pretty sure the mute/ban system is automated and just automutes/autobans ppl which is why people get muted or banned for dumb reasons

There's a very fine line between not listening, and not caring. I like to think that I walk that line every day

Yep. That is true. You make think that it is wrong but in Jagex's eyes, it isn't wrong.

I'm well aware that Jagex flags offences using AI (mutes me for saying "give acc")

The good thing however is they no longer use AI to appeal offences which is why I'm not muted anymore. The point of this thread isn't to wait for some guy to give a conflicting opinion for flamebait, but to open a discussion regarding long-term mutes/bans because of offences not intentionally committed.
