I had an unpleasant surprise when I finally got my 87 crafting. Well, that was after the pleasant surprise, which was… being able to make “empty light orbs” for a whopping 30% more crafting exp than Lenses were giving me.

The unpleasant surprise was when, after making 4k of them, I tried to take some out of my bank to sell. Did you know that:
1) They can’t be taken out as notes
2) Shops (at least all that I’ve tried) won’t buy them from you.

Yes, I do add wire to some (which can then be sold), but I’ll never keep up with the rate at which I make them.

So, I’m either resigned to having them take up bank space FOREVER, or dropping a handful each time I leave the bank. (Which is a pain.)

So that’s why empty light orbs are the worst of the worst when it comes to bank items.

Ugh I feel your pain, I stockpiled on snow balls at the christmas update last year about 1k of them. Now I try to get rid of them, this item cannot be withdrawn as a note #-o , bye bye bankspace.

Wow, and I thought that random event clothing ruined bank space. Does adding wire give any exp? If yes, then go to the G.e. and buy alot of wire (or make it yourself) and add the wire.

I would have thought bronze wire would be no more than 10gp each, I think the bankspace is worth the 40k or so in which it will take to add wire to all then remove.

Unfortunately, this wire is a different item than bronse wire. However, it's a good idea to check the ge to see if someone is selling some. (I hadn't even thought of that. )

There is a mashine in Dorgesh-Kaan that spawns it. I steal it from there (albeit, for only 20 thieving experience). I've taken to doing my alching there (as apposed to the zammy wine or nightshade spawns) and collecting a load as I alch. Then run to the bank and fill some orbs.

Also, adding the wire to the empty orb is GREAT experience. 100 crafting each.

Well,

If it is untradeable, the time to collect the wire is pointless, it would be faster and get more experience to just drop them all maually and empty more.

Otherwise, by all means buy heaps of that wire.

Really, the only problem is rates. I make empty orbs from molten glass a lot faster than I steal wire to put into them. So, I'll end up with thousands more empty orbs than completed ones.

But is the wire tradeable, if so, how much does it cost?

Are you talking about Dorgeshuun light orbs?

Yes, i'm talking about the Dorgesh-Kaan light bulbs. The wire is called "Cave Goblen Wire". Turns out, it IS tradeable. I tried to buy some on the GE, (at max possible price), but none are for sale. :-( No surprise. The GE price is set in the mid-40s. Way too low.

When emptying my bank I found dropping my 50 curry tree saplings was annoying :$ though maybe not quite as bad as 4000 of those orbs. I've no idea why they don't note, it seems really stupid seeing as anyone with any sense knows to train a skill like crafting you -always- do it in bulk.

I believe that they are untradeable because of the amount of Firemaking experience they give when replacing them in the Dorgesh-Khan mines, is it 5000?

Probably so that they don't get wide spread through the community, who knows, could even be a bug?
