SwiftSwitch should still be legal...yes it DID have the World Watcher and now it is gone. There is nothing wrong with what Strider has done to make gameplay easier for the Runescape Players. Especially with IRC installed into the SS Program it makes it so much easier for clans and friends to communicate.

Jagex just can't take the fact that someone that has made a program before they can think of it. Now they want to get SwiftSwitch banned and make a program just like it.

Now as for the Rsbandb World Switcher...I will use that.

Right now, Jagex are putting a hold on the things that made Runescape fansites thrive. By not allowing a nice easy to use programme to calculate your scores (and more), they're basically forcing you to use their rubbish "java applet pop-up in a IE browser window" client. Until they can invest time into making something that competes, I don't see the reason anyone should stop using it.

The terms and conditions of runescape state, as of the 8th January 2007,

Quote:
You must not reverse-engineer, decompile or modify the Game client software in any way. You must not use a modified/customised version of the client software. You must not create or provide any other means by which the Game may be played by others (including, without limitation, replacement or modified client/server software, server emulators).

Therefore, Swiftswitch shouldn't have been created in the first place.

As of 8 January. So, what's your point?

I personally hated Swiftswitch anyway. It was designed for 1024x768 resolution and basically nothing else. There are huge gaps at larger resolutions and everything vanishes at lower resolutions.

However, I will say there is absolutely no way Jagex can really tell that you're using it. The signals swiftswitch sends to the RS server are almost definetely exactly the same as if you did this:

Open IE. Put the Runescape world list in one tab or window, and the runescape game in another.
Refresh the world list tab or page every minute or so.

There is no way whatsoever that they could tell the difference between someone doing the above and someon using swiftswitch. Any bans would be unprovable and therefore unjustified.

Jagex don't always feel a need to justify.

The only reason I use SS is because of the screenshot taker, I used Opera and detached the window and found it lagged less. The only other significant advantage is the stats searcher which I mainly use to look up at people lying about their levels.

Jagex needs to get back to their senses.

Where did you guys find out about this? I think Jagex just changed the rules behind our backs, and mass-ban people, then use the changed rule for evidence.

That's just dumb.

Jagex went from, Friendly game owners to corporate bullys :?

Apparently you have a misunderstanding about the date I supplied; I have no idea when certain parts of the terms and conditions of Runescape were edited, however the most recent change, whether it be relevant to the current discussion or not, was on January 8th 2007.

It is also written in the Terms and Conditions of Runescape, that Jagex does not have to inform anyone of changes. Everyone agreed to this when creating their character, so no-one has the right to complain. They've already agreed to it. Here's a quote;

Quote:
We may change these terms and conditions at any time. Please check them whenever you return to the site. We will treat your continued use of our site as acceptance of these changes from their effective date as shown above.

It has always been Jagex's policy however, to not allow the use of third party programs. Swiftswitch is not made by Jagex, and therefore has been "illegal" from the start.

So, my point is this - Swiftswitch has, and always will be, against the rules.

In that case, I'll keep using it.

In the past, Jagex was against 3rd party software which blocked ads. Since SS stopped doing that, they seemed to have calmed down. Except for now, of course. I think it's pretty stupid, tbh.

Congratulations Jagex. Take something everyone loves and ban them for using it because you just want to force them to use the new one you are making.
It's good to know that they are focusing harder right now on rooting out SwiftSwitch users than on the thousands of autoers.

There he lay now, sick, miserable, filled with ill-will towards himself; full of hatred for the impulses toward life, full of suspicion of all that was still strong and happy. They can't even detect ad blocking, I still block ads.

Ryan, not everyone likes Swiftswitch. A lot of people hate it for unjustified reasons or sheer paranoia. Because they think it is a keylogger or for people who can't browse. I agree with MOTV that it's annoying because it is made for 1024x768 res but until someone produces a better one I'm going to stick to it.

I'm using Zybez's browser-based client that works just like SS as a replacement atm. Works just as good.
