If they keep going down the same path they are going, and if android gets a hell of a lot less scummy. (Phone manufacturers + app store etc)

If I did leave the apple world I would probably use android and linux because I don't like microsoft very much.

Phone wise, Android is awesome. OS wise, just get a computer with Windows 7 and install Linux on a partition or use a VM.

Android and IOS are both great but if you're a bit of a geek (most of the people on this forum are) you'll like Android better.

For your desktop/laptop I'd recommend going with Windows or OSX unless you have a good understanding of Linux/Unix.

p.s. Being a bit of a geek is a good thing :)
