Jagex - RS Podcast

If they do do their own podcast, I wouldn't be surprised if you learned almost nothing new after listening. They would probably stick to their usual vague, politics-worthy type of answering questions as they do on RSOF. The only way to get a straight answer out of them would be to tie a JMod to a chair and have Shane interrogate them.

And I'm not surprised at the fail comments on the page. It's Facebook for crying out loud. :lol:

I am inclined to agree with Kulla. We haven't got much exposure from Jagex in the past when they did their re-tweeting.

The Facebook discussion is useless when it's so off topic. They should ask these sorts of things on the forums if they want any real discussion about it. The only benefit to using it on Facebook is to get a general idea of how many people are watching and might be vaguely interested. I use the word vaguely since a Like on Facebook is a one second operation. It doesn't carry much weight.

A Jagex podcast would likely be a weekly or monthly affair. They would end up going the weekly route if they want to highlight community events. If they want to use it as a podium to preach their updates from it would probably be done monthly. A Jagex based podcast wouldn't be competition to our show. Our show has a very minor emphasis on telling you about the updates and how they work. Our primary focus is to tell you that they happened and what they're loosely about. From that you can use your own head to determine if you want to check it out and determine what you think of it.

I would not mind our show being recognized as a RS podcast by Jagex. Too many people search on iTunes and find another RS podcast but don't continue on listening to it or others. Feel free to share RSBANDBUpdate! on that FB post and RS (since we are a recognized fansite) but do it in a way that doesn't break any rules.

I'm not holding my breath but this is probably just Jagex pondering another marketing avenue.

Yes, agreed... a podcast produced by Jagex really wouldn't be competition with RSBandBUpdate! It would be totally different. It probably would be an audio version of the BTS, Dev Blog, and the like. I'm sure it wouldn't even be half as "entertaining" as RSBandBUpdate! :wink:

Not bad if you ask me. 14 new memberships in less than 24 hours. Some exposure for sure. But, remember if just one person tells 2 friends, and they tell 2 friends, and so on and so on... You just have to light the match, the fire will spread all by itself.

Hey, here's some interesting news. Someone who works at Jagex just asked to be my friend on FB. How you like them apples? (And, BTW they don't have that many friends and the friends they do have I can tell some of them are also JMods.) Pretty neat.

Oddly enough, this question was posed hours after I made a post inquiring on RSOF of any good and current Runescape Podcasts out there. Coincidence? I think not!

Anyhow, after doing research on my own, RSBandB is the only current major podcast with RS related content. Which is just as well, because it is very well done. I'd like to be on the podcast someday, but we all have dreams, don't we?

Keep your eyes open (or ears rather). We sometimes have contests where people can get on the show.

I'm having a good stroke of luck with contests recently. I hope that luck hasn't run out. I'd so much rather be on the show than to receive some RS merchandise from Jagex.

I just had to put that out there.
Anyways, I do hope that because of your (and others) active promoting of the site and the podcast (especially to jagex), we can get some more visibility (or better support from them) and maybe, who knows, get featured on the site or something.
I also love the idea of Shane tying a Jmod to a chair and interrogating him or her, that would be fantastic...

I was JUST thinking that, but for Shane and being much more creepy.
