Yes, you can have multiple defenders in the bank.

Defender are similar to the shield! Defenders are members only. How many metal defenders do you have?

Well, well. High level combat has lots of metal defenders. Of course, I'll get a Bronze to Rune Defender.

A defender is dropped only by Cyclopses in the Warrior Guild (need 100 WG tokens).
A defender is untradable, and yes it is a rare drop from cyclopses.

When you kill Cyclopes, you have a chance of receiving a defender as a drop. It goes from bronze to rune. When you get a bronze, you won't get another bronze as long as you own it in your inventory or bank. When you reach rune, I suggest you dump all of the defenders except for adamant just in case you somehow eat your rune one from hunger. I have 11 rune defenders and an addy one. Good luck.
