Hey

Consistently whenever I boot up and type in my password, and click either enter or the little arrow button, my PC completely freezes and doesn't come unstuck. I can then boot in Safe Mode and I restore to a few days ago, when some updates seem to have been put in and everything is ok. I ran a diagnostics test and got this error code:
Error Code: 0F00: 137B
Msg: BDR_1 - Drive Media is missing or blank.

I popped this into google and people have been getting the same error code but a different message? I eventually tried putting it in on Dell Tech. Support and it bring up some solutions for Hard Drive issues but nothing that directly relates to my error code. Once I system restore, everything is absolutely fine, until I reboot and the same problem occurs.

Any and all help will be massively appreciated.

Could be an issue with whatever sectors are getting hit with the update, but it's odd that you can revert the changes and it works fine. If you've got Spinrite or something, run that to hopefully fix issues. If not, try getting a Scandisk to be scheduled from Safe-Mode, then reboot and let that run.

Right click on the HDD => Tools => Error-Checking / ScanDisk (EC in Win7, not sure if that's a carry-over from Vista or not) => it'll make you reboot, do so, let it see if it finds issues.

There's no tools option D:

Should we talk about this on msn or something so I'm not spamming up the forum?

EDIT: I found the disk repair thing and it found no issues. I've got a copy of SpinRite from a friend but when I go to run it, it says something about the OS on the computer being removed?

You run Spinrite from a CD/DVD/USB stick. DO NOT install it to your main HDD as you would lose any data on there.. Kinda defeats the purpose.

Sorry for the delayed reply, feel free to PM me if you've got questions. I've spent the last few days fixing my Dad's computer after having an unmountable boot drive issue, so Spinrite / chkdsk / a few other tools came in handy...
