watch utorrent movies

How do i watch utorrent movies on itunes? i downloaded a movie off utorrent but i cant seem to open it with itunes on my MAC.Is their a way around that?

For all intensive purposes I'm assuming that you've downloaded a freely licensed movie and not something that would be considered illegal. While I don't use a Mac, I know one program that you'll be able to use since it's cross-platform - VLC. It'll play pretty much anything you can throw at it, and I've not found something it wouldn't recognize.

If you want to move them into iTunes, you'll have to do a conversion to a format it recognizes. A quick way to do this would be through Handbrake. Basically drag the movie file into Handbrake and select a conversion for any of the Apple based products and you'll be able to import and play the movie without issues.

I agree with the VLC suggestion. I've never seen a video that couldn't be played in VLC.

Just a side note here: It's not illegal to download movies in every country. For example, in the Netherlands it's legal to download any movie for your own personal use but it's illegal to upload it.

You need Perian! That will sort everything out for you if you don't want to use VLC. It's basically a codec pack for QuickTime (so by extension, iTunes), and it's good to install even if you do use VLC because OS X uses QuickTime for a lot of other things automatically.

That is strange, you are allowed downloading movies but not uploading them.

Well, digital piracy is defined as illegally distributing protected material. So that's illegal, but acquiring the protected material is not prohibited by law. I know it doesn't make sense, but as long as they allow it, I'm downloading everything I can lay my hands on.
