My built in computer speakers are chirping
My computer is a Dell Inspiron 1501 with a "SigmaTel High Definition Audio" sound card. I think.
Any help?

It's been going on for several days, restarted many times during that time period.

Have you tried a live CD version of a Linux distribution? If it's happening in other operating systems, and it hasn't happened till now, it's likely a hardware issue. It's not exactly the newest laptop, so it's quite possible that the speakers are showing their age.

It may not be a fault with the speakers. Try reinstalling the sound drivers- they're notorious for playing up.

Alternatively, are you sure that the chirping isn't coming from something emitting a frequency nearby? Mobile phones and other things can cause buzzing and chirping from speakers.

MY wifi router plays absolute havoc with my speakers if they're not in exactly the right place.

Wow, I forgot to follow up on this :?
I think it was the frequency, I used to have my wireless phone next to the computer, I moved it, and it was all better :)
Thanks guys!
