The month of January will include several amazing updates, most with a very strong sand theme.
We kick off the New Year with the introduction of the Mage Training Arena. Over the last few years, many wizards have come to an unfortunate end because of a lack of training in the less aggressive spells. Too many royal vases have been smashed from a badly directed telegrab or alchemy spell, and the Wizards' towers have received one too many insurance claims. In response to this they have unearthed an old deserted building thought lost to the Kharidian sands forever.

Several games can be played there, all with the intention of learning the finer arts of magic. Do well, and collect some unique robes and even talking merchandise! This update is one of the most beautiful updates we have had in a long time and should not be missed.

Later this month we see the addition of another agility course, but this time in the sands near to Menaphos. Rumours of a glint of gold sparkling on its pinnacle are unsubstantiated, but the appearance of an archaeologist has helped the rumour spread. This course is aimed at mid-level athletes.

The Burthorpe games room has finally opened its doors to some more games! Later this month you will be able to go and play Runeversi and Squares as well as competing at the current Draughts and Runelink games.

Squares is an old game played between the Duke of Lumbridge and King Roald of Varrock back in their maths lessons when they were children. It's based around the simple principle of putting lines down on a board, scoring points when you complete a 'square', but tactics and logic play a big part.

More random events will also enter the game this month, with visits from a friendly sandwich lady and Prison Pete. Help sort out baguettes and pop balloon animals soon!

Two quests this month develop more of the desert gods' storylines and answer the age old question – where does all the sand in the sand pits come from? Who brings it there? Help Bert the sandpit worker come to terms with a strange discovery as you take on the challenge of The Hand in the Sand. Be careful though, or the puns might just kill you. Dust off that chisel and hammer as you attempt to make statues...

Also this month look out for more readers' letters, one brand new slayer monster for mid-level characters and some new fillings for your baked potatoes!

I quoted it for you creepy

Anyways. the Mage thing sounds interesting. The other doesn't sound that challenging, however they only described 1 quest, maybe the other is incredibly difficult

Honestly, this update was perfect; everything I need.

I recently got into the board games room, and I'm extremely happy to hear they're adding more games.

Plus, I'm 72 agility and would love to try out some new arenas.

Then I'm also 84 mage, so the mage arena was pefect for me.

All in all, that alone makes this a perfect month of updates for me :)

This sounds like a god month to come. The mage training arena is going to be great. Exactly what I need when I am going to start training mage. The quests sound alright. More random events are not needed I think. :?

Great month to come I think though.

like they dont already have enough courses for mid-level peeps, every course in the game is geared towards mid-levels, when they add a course that requires 80+ or so agility then they can call it a decent level course. :P

new randoms, hopefully they're more lethal and have a better range of attack than the current ones that most bots can just avoid.

new quests we'll see how decent they are, when they get here.
new games for the game room, nice might attract people there more often than when they need a fast trip to the slayer master or the fountain for they ammys.

Not as good as a month as hoped, and sounds like no POH's are in store for January, nothing too big other than the mage arena, I'll give it 3/5.

A drill demon is that random event that takes you to somewhere and you have to do what he says. He's basically a drill instructor like at an army camp. If you do it you can get a camoflauge piece.

And as far as this month, it isn't any different from the rest of the months.

Only 3/5. Nothing special, just a few updates. I like the Random Events part, and hopefully more unique items will come from these events.

Finally a new agility arena.
