Suggestion: Removal of post count

What the title said.

In PhoenixEmpire's topic in Non-RS discussion which was about the importance of discussion value, MQ said that a more relaxed way of discussion would only cause people to desperately raise their post count. That is true, though, but why do we need post count? It only brings competition, and through competition, spamming. Many people post short and rather useless comments all the time, just to raise their post count.

In the end, post count doesn't even bring renown on the forums. What does it really do? If you post a lot in short time, people will only think you're a spammer. What REALLY brings renown is what you post, not how much you post.

Also I'm kind of annoyed about the state of forums after removal of Sandbox. There is no place to relax. In Non-RS discussion we're forced to stay on subject and post only material with discussion value. The quality and maturity of the forums increase, yes, but it's not fun. With the removal of post count there would be no reason to spam and people wouldn't have to be so careful on what they comment, thus increasing happiness of members overall. And people can still discuss important subjects if they want to.

So that's what I'm saying. We don't need post count.

I'd have to agree with the removal of post count. Non-Runescape media has a weekly "whats ur fav music" topic, 2-3 good topics, and the rest are topics that have no discussion but still get posts because people want dragon member. Non-Runescape discussion feels like no one reads the original post. They go there to get 5-10 post count a day just so they can get an extra rank in clan chat or on the forums. Without post count everyone would be the same .

No one's suggesting the sandbox coming back. That would just cause the problem of there being no topics of discussion. With post count removed and the sandbox removed people won't have a reason to make posts without thinking. Giving the forums more discussion.

How will we deal with the ranks? o.O

I suppose I agree about getting rid of the post count.

I've been on other forums before where sometimes, people just post so that they can get their post count up. Since I'm a mod on one forum, it can get really annoying having to delete peoples posts because they are just spam.

The sandbox was removed because people abused it, and you have to deal with the consequences.

The sandbox wasn't used as 'lets go in this forum, relax and have some discussions about things too casual for the Non-RS forums'. It was 'lets go in to this forum, put other people down constantly and act like total jerks'.

On the point about people spamming to gain post count and ranks... I've only seen it in a few cases. It's not enough of a problem to warrant removing post count I feel. If it ever became that much of a problem I'd have no problem without it though.

Last time someone we considered to be posting over the top and just doing it for ranks had there count reset.

I think that way works fine, i can't be the first to get to 10k posts if it's not there come on, give me some support here.
