Runerock. Technically it's not a scam but it is amazingly unfair. People have lost Rares that way.

(A dragon longsword (Or whatever item) is said to be sold at a unreasonably high price, as soon as you accept the trade, the scammer takes out their offer and accepts. Similar to the first one in the guide.)

-"Come to (website adress blocked by me) for any item you want!"
(First of all, that is against RuneScape rules to advertise websites, report immediately if possible. Also, their websites may install keyloggers, trojans, spy and ad ware onto your computer as soon as the website is visited or a download is made on that site.)

-Person 1: "Selling d long 90k!"
Person 2: "Buying d long 100k!"
(Especially if you merchant, you may come across this scam very often. When you first see the scam you may think of buying the dragon longsword for 90k and selling to the other person for 100k. As soon as you buy the 90k dragon longsword, the person buying for 100k runs away and/or logs off so you don't make a profit.)

What NOT to do if you are scammed

-Call the scammer "Scammer!" or "Noob!".
(That is not a good idea because first, it doesn't solve anything. Also, it is disrespectful and will make the scammer more mad and likely to scam. Lastly, the scammer may report you if they are really annoyed.)

-Go around scamming people.
(This is against the rules and you can just get yourself banned. Also, you are fighting fire with fire which isin't a good choice in this situation.)

-Go around and beg for "Free stuff plz!"
(This really doesn't solve much since people may think you are telling a lie just for free items. Also it just ends up with you getting a bad reputation and being called "Noob".

-Beg friends for items because you have been scammed.
(This will annoy your friends and maybe lose their trust in you. Be a good friend to them and they will to you. You can still tell them the story of the scam and maybe they will give you items.)

Scams may evolve overtime, so don't expect my guide to be 100% accurate. Scams may die out or new ones may exist due to Jagex's updates.

listen i got scammed and lost full addy armor and no1 will give it back help me.

my m8 got scammed out of a whip the guy sed 2 meet at edgy so my m8 did and jst as my m8 clicked on trade the scammer ran into the wildy i mean u may think thats not bad but by coisedence (cant spell) there was a lvl 80 mage there (same lvl as my m8 ) and he froze my m8 and killed him and he died and respawned in fally with 3gp....

now aint that just really bad i h8 scammers

a) Great Guide, very helpful.
b) The poison in the house no longer works because jagex have made it so when your out your not poisoned.
c) In advancement to your bit that says buying d long 100k selling 90k some people do that with items such as turtles shells and things people haven't heard of like equa leaves.

They tell you to drop the items you want to double then press alt+f4 to double them. It closes your browser window. Don't do it!

I have gotten scammed with something similar to one mentioned earlier where a Zombie appeared and a guy got killed since someone else closed the door.

Well when I was a noob, I believe I had full Mith or something, maybe even Steel, some guy said "Hey you! Follow me and I will show you where you can pick up an item worth 125K!" And I was like "Hmm... scam." But then I was also thinking "Hmm... 125k!" So I followed him.

He took me somewhere near Falador where there is a Zamorak Church. He told me to take the Zamorak's Wine, and when I did Zamorak was like "WTF Get off my wine noob!" and all his minions attacked me! The guy who brought me laughed and laughed and closed the door on me. However I kept struggling and kept my head and eventually got out and got away without losing anything. But it can and does happen alot and walking past there, once in awhile I will see someone else about to get scammed that way.

So be careful and remember, there is nothing for free!

you know, the sellin d long 90k isnt a really a scam to complain about, u bought a d long for 90k and the other guy logs out? Who cares you still bought it for a good price

ok i had this 1 done to me i wos pking with my friends at mage arina when some ancient mages kill some of my friends so i ran near the rouges den and i seen this guy who said i gotta kill any1 a gigher lvl than me and i get 1m so can i kill u and i wos not skulled but i only had my whip so then i went yer ok u kill me and u pay me now so he goes oh ok he gives me a 3 d longs and he starts to kill me halvway thro hye goes oh yea tis will be easy me thinkin he talkin about gettin the 1m then he isnt skulled right so he gets out full rune to go whith his whip i jus tthere thinkin ok let him do that i will be 300k up then i die i like oh yea i got a whip and 3 d longs in 1 pkin trip then on my pm he goes ha ha ha ha i lovin ur whip and i think he liked it cos i got him down to halv hp and he had whip and full rune then i realise i only had 3 d longs so i repoted him and i banned him cos he normally took the mick out of me and i did the same back until one day he never wos on again lol

it has happended to many ppl and i would like u to add it becouse it is a very anoyin scam that means u lose 2m or so very anoyin
