Um... there were only two conventional Final Fantasy's for the PS2, Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy XII. The only others bearing the Final Fantasy name were Final Fantasy X-2 (an action RPG), Final Fantasy XI (an MMORPG), and Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus (a third-person shooter). Obviously out of those 5 games I would choose FFX. Final Fantasy XII was such a flop for me. It was actually a pretty fun game, but it just wasn't what I expected from a Final Fantasy game. The story was really dull, and the combat wasn't the traditional turn-based. It was great for an action RPG, but it didn't leave me with the same feeling as the other installations did. FFX had an amazing story, a great battle system, it was the first Final Fantasy with voice acting (which was incredibly well done) and it has some of the best music in the series.
But as for the all time best Final Fantasy, it's really a hard decision for me. My favourites are FFVI, FFVII, FFIX, and FFX. Those four games all have amazing music and storylines. FFVI is no doubt the best of the SNES era of Final Fantasy. I love the variety of characters, each had their own special abilities, and ofcourse the optional characters like Mog, Umaro, and Gogo. FFVII was the first I played, so there's some sentimental value there. Actually, now that I think of it, it was the first Playstation game I played. It was the first time I'd seen graphics like that, and the music was brought to an entire new level on the PS. FFVII also has one of the most iconic videogame villains of all time, Sephiroth. FFXI was really cool in the fact that it went back to the roots of Final Fantasy. Skills were once again learned from weapons and armour, moogles were given a much bigger role, and the game didn't take itself too seriously. And then we have FFX, the first Final Fantasy for the PS2. Amazing graphics, awesome voice acting, and ofcourse great music.
Sorry, I can't pick one. Is it alright if I pick four?
