What do you think was the best game made last year? I know this sounds old, and this idea DID come from the january issue of gameinformer (lot of catching up to do)

I hope everyone's had time to play the titles mentioned, and if you choose "other" please mention it in a post.

GameInformer rated Bioshock as their game of the year, and I probably would too if I had it.. and since I don't have live (see the irony?) I can't experience the rewards behind CoD4.. I'd have to go with Halo 3 due to the forge and that I've always liked the series from the start.

Well here in the UK, COD4 was voted Game of The Year '07 so thats what I voted for. I think Rock Band would have been a contender, but since it hasn't been released here yet I can't judge it.

COD4

Bioshock is a close contender but the lack of multiplayer/replay ability stops it.

COD4 for me, just because it is probably one of (if not the best) online shooter. Yeah, I got bored of it fairly quick but still, it beats the rest.

Second would be Halo probably, just because it has online. If Bioshock had more to keep me interested after playing it just the once it would have been first/second.

Like the others have said, CoD4. It's storyline was intruiging and the online is probably the best yet.

If I had live I'd vote CoD4 too :( People are probably going to be playing that game for years to come

The Darkness. I don't care how ******* the multiplayer was, it owned all those games, story-wise. And I doubt anything will beat Lost Odyssey for "best of 2008", for me at least.

COD4, for incredibly addictive multiplayer and unbelievably awesome single player.

Incredible game in terms of storytelling, it nearly made me cry in some parts. Another good game was Condemned 2: Bloodshot, but that's 2008 as well.

Looks like CoD4 mops the floor with everyone, no suprise :p

cod4 was my choice.

halo 3 was a nice game but it's so one sided, only for xbox which for other players it just doesn't work.
the other games were great too but the problem with them is that they are mostly single player.

call of duty 4 did everything right for fans of the FPS.
1. great single player story
2.available for every console
3. had goals for all players to accomplish so there is more incentive to play.
4. multi player (nuff said)

BioShock is my number one for sure. It was one of those games that doesn't come along very often. It actually somewhat ruined gaming for me because now every other game seems worse because I played BioShock and because it was such and amazing game. Everything about it was perfect. Best story in a game ever, intriguing plot, great character development, a perfect atmosphere, great mix of elements, and an amazing artistic design. Multiplayer is not always needed in games. Look at any game from earlier times: Super Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, Original Metroid, etc. None of these had multiplayer and are all considered great games. BioShock is may game of the year and game of my life for sure.

Assassins Creed, By far the best game I ever played. Of course Call of Duty 4 is incredibly close, But I made my choice :P . Awesome graphisms, Very good story everything is perfect to me tbh.

How am I the first to say Mass Effect?

Amazing game, more than I expected, even though Bioware made it, do it was destined to be awesome. Very deep and interesting plot, almost seems like it's out of a history book. A perfectly timed GINORMOUS plot twist at the climax, just like they did in KotOR, which I will not spoil for you, except that you don't turn out to be some amnesiac supervillain. :P

The one thing that I thought was sorta weird about it is that the galaxy is ruled by a triumvirate of 3 alien races: one of nerdy scientists, one of fierce warriors that actually seem smarter than the scientists... and a species made up entirely of bisexual alien women

However... I just realized that I did not see WoW: The Burning Crusade on the list. I don't think it deserves Game of the Year, but it was definitely one of the best titles out in '07.

Mass Effect would probably be my 2nd choice actually, since having CoD4 and no Live isn't very attractive. Took me 30 hours though #-o Also heard it's coming out for PC.

Suprising how deep they get into it too. Everything from culture to reproduction cycles, which is really odd with the last species you mentioned :| Which reminds me about the whole scandal of that one scene that got so much attention ... rather old though
Spoiler for Mass Effect Discussion:

The girl on the left made me crack up, Geoff knows what he's talking about. Didn't watch the rest since it's basically stating the obvious and unintelligent discussion.
