I'm the first to admit when wrong. And so I shall say it now: My earlier ***** about this game was wrong.
I can't speak for the multiplayer as it wasn't in the demo i played but the single player? Open world, 100+ levels, 20+ vehicles and i think they claimed 40 odd weapons.
You can destroy and level entire buildings, you can jump in a mech and smash through things like they aren't even there, swinging and slamming it's arms around. The destruction in this is over the top. The one downside is you can't burrow through ground like in FF1, which sucks. This is an example of how awesome it is;
Forget RF2, that crapfest seems to have been a fluke. Everything in this is superb from what I played. It's a true sequal to Red Faction 1 and not just a cash in like 2, they even kept the throwing explosives on people and they panic like mad thing.
Nothing compares to slamming a sledgehammer through a wall and nocking someone flying. The campaign seems like it's going to be long but if they can pull decent mulitplayer off too then i think we've got one of the best games out this year. And it's out June 9th.

Iwas in the Multiplayer beta for it and I must say, IT WAS A BLAST. The weapons the came up with are really cool. My favorite has to be either the Hammer or the recontruction beam.
Speaking of the recontruction beam, I love the way territories is played. I like it how you have to destroy a building then recontruct it to cap it! It makes territories very interesting indeed!

****, if those explosives are back, them I really want this just for them. Haha, I used to love doing that to people. Ahh the good times I spent of my childhood blowing gigantic holes in walls and then hiding there and killing all the bots with a railgun. Looks like thats still there too.
downloaded the sp demo via european xbl account and i wasnt impressed. it was a fun game but it didnt feel like rf at all. third person is dumb in this game, especially when you can even aim with weapons. the open world was a good concept but red faction was all about going through buildings and blowing holes through walls. this game, you shoot a building from the outside and watch it tumble down, it just isnt rf.
and i dont think rf2 was a bad gam in any way. there was a lot less geomod but the story was great and it was really fun. ill still rent rf3 cause the story should be really good, but it just doesnt feel like a real rf game.
I think this game is more what the developer wanted for RF1 than anything else. It was *always* about guerilla warfare but they never had the hardware to properly create it so what you got was a linear shooter with the ability to find shortcuts through walls.
It is a bit odd that there on mars yet the main character is walking about without any means of breathable air though I'll admit. XD
