Ugh, I've been reading every review for Lost Odyssey over the last week and the highest score yet is 8.8, from GameSpy I believe.

Gamespot just released their review, with an oh-so-average 7.5...

I dunno, most of the complaints are due to the lack of innovation, which is bull. A game doesn't need to innovate in order to be good. My expectations are still through the roof, and we'll see what happens over the next few days (shipped today, for sale tomorrow).

I saw the GameSpot review and the only thing that annoys me about it other than it being turn-based is the fact that it had extremely looooong load times. Long load times are unacceptable for games in this day and age.

I don't consider 10-20 seconds a long load time, especially if it's not even a black screen. They are saying that it shows the characters enter battle, then shows the enemies, then the environment, while they just want to fight right away. This is an RPG, not an FPS.

I guess it's about preference, turned-based RPG's are still my favourite type of games, and I don't need innovation to make a game good. In fact, I'd rather have a game with no innovation.

If the loads are like The Darkness loads than it's ok because those were actually enjoyable until you had seen each one about 10 times.

But, like I said it really doesn't matter to me because I can't enjoy any type of turn based games.
