*NOTE: This is my guide from the RuneScape forum, under Monsters.

I have been to Barrows Numerous Times, and I thought I would make a Guide about it for others to read and learn from. I hope you enjoy my Guide, and use it while Barrowing.

I will also be answering all kinds of Barrow questions. Just ask, and I'll try my best to answer. ^_^

~-= Getting to the Barrows =-~

You must have completed the Priest In Peril Quest to get to the Barrows.

1.Go to Northwest from Varrock until you come to a gate. Go through that gate, and continue eastward until you come to a big house/church. Go a bit north, and you will come to a ladder. Climb down the ladder, and follow the path until you come to a monk. Pass him, and continue through a door.

2.Now, you are in Morytania. Go south until you come to Uzulias and a gate. Go Through the gate, and continue southward until you come to an island.

3.From that island, go south and follow the winding path until you finish and come to a small town called Mortton.

4.Continue east, and you will come to a large fenced area. Go Inside, and you will be at the Burial ground of the Barrow Brothers.

This Was My First Title:

~-=Blazers Guide To Barrows=-~

---

~-= Section Number Two =-~

~-= Barrow Brothers and Locations =-~

There are 6 Barrow Brothers. One mage brother, one ranged Brother, and four melee Brothers. All of them are fairly strong, and I suggest if you watch your screen incase your prayer runs out, or you get a high hit on you. After all, there have been hits by these Barrow Brothers recorded in the 50s!

Ahrim The Blighted - Level 98 - Middle Hill

Ahrim The Blighted is the Magic Barrow Brother. He uses Fire Wave which can hit up to 20. Ahrim also uses a spell that weakens your attack level. I always Range him, as I rarely do damage using magic or melee.

---

Karil The Tainted - Level 98 - Southern Hill

Karil The Tainted uses a Crossbow as his weapon, making him the Ranged Barrow Brother. He is fairly easy to kill with Magic Spells, I always use Fire Blast and it works. Dragon Weapons, useing Melee Is also A Good Way to Fight Karil. In my eyes, he is the weakest of the Barrow Brothers.

---

Torag The Corrupted - Level 115 - South - Western Hill

Torag The Corrupted is one of the Four Barrow Brothers that uses Melee. His weapon, which is two hammers, can hit fairly hard. From my point of view, he is the Weakest of the Melee Barrow Brothers.

---

Guthan The Infested - Level 115 - South - Eastern Hill

Guthan The Infested is on the stronger side of the Barrow Brothers. His War - spear has hit 35+ on me without Protect from Melee on. I suggest using Magic to kill Guthan.

~-= Section Number Three =-~

~-= Barrow Brothers and Locations =-~ (Continued)

Verac The Defiled - Level 115 - North - Western Hill

Verac The Defiled uses a flail, which is also known as a mace and chain. He can hit very hard, and I suggest using Magic or good ranged on him.

---

Dharok The Wretched - Level 115 - North - Eastern Hill

Dharok The Wretched is the strongest Barrows Brother in my eyes. He has hits recorded in the 50s, and is sometimes very difficult to kill. I Always use Protection Spells when fighting him, keep my prayer high and Use Fire Blast. Always Watch the fight when Battling Dharok, as He may hit you with a little surprise ;)

---

On All of these Barrow Brothers, I have used the correct protection Spells, and used Fire Blast. On Ahrim, I have used A Magic Shortbow and Iron Arrows.

Remember to ALWAYS watch your prayer, health and the Barrow Brother you are Battling. Your prayer lowers constantly, so bring lots of Prayer Potions.

~-= Section Number Four =-~

~-= Recomended Items =-~

Over my Barrow Trips, I have learned to bring, and not to bring certain items. I have devised a list that you should bring when Barrowing.

* - Needed
+ - Optional

3-7 Prayer Potions +
Mage Armour ----------> One Of These Is Needed
Melee Armour ---------> One Of These Is Needed
Ranged Armour --------> One Of These Is Needed

---

~-= My Barrowing Gear =-~

400 Death Runes
2000 Fire Runes

Attack - 70
Strength - 69
Defense - 65
Hitpoints - 70
Ranged - 60
Magic - 79
Prayer - 48
Combat - 84

---

Recomendations For Levels and Armour -

Armour - Rune and Up
Ranged - 50 and Up
Magic - 35 and Up
Dragon Weapon - If you are Using Melee
Magic Bow - If you are Ranging
Runes For Fire Bolt or Blast - If you are using Magic

~-= Section Number Five =-~

~-= The Chest And Catcombs =-~

In My eyes, getting to the Chest, and runing through the Catcombs is the hardest Part. There are Numerous Monsters down there, and Your Mini-map is blank. I suggest killing atleast 5 of the Barrow Brothers until you enter the Catcombs.

Catcomb Monsters-

Crpyt Rat - Level 43
Blood Worm - Level 52
Crypt Spider - Level 56
Giant Crypt Rat - Level 76
Skeletons - Level 77
Giant Crypt Spider - Level 79
Any Barrow Brother That You Have Not Killed.

When Down in the Catcombs, All of these creatures will attack you when you go from Room to Room.

---

When Running through the Catcombs, try your best to get to the center part of the maze, where the chest would be located.

---

After a bit, you will come to a door with a puzzle. Answer the Puzzle Question, and you will be able to enter the Chest Room. Open, then search the chest, and you will get a reward. I always Teleport out right after I search the Chest.

---

When Doing the Puzzles to get in the Chest Room, one of the Monsters (Listed on previou Post) may attack you. I just quickly kill it, then go back to the puzzle.

The Puzzle is fairly easy, and after a while, you remember all four of the answers.

~-= Section Number Six =-~

~-= Barrow Rewards And Armour =-~

When Opening the Chest, you don't have the best chance of getting Barrows Items, but when you do get one, you make some pretty good cash :-)

Usually, you will get a number of Runes and various amounts of Cash.

Save them as .png and they will come out in great quality. Just make sure to crop them also, we don't want the whole screen full of white. :P

Your guide covers pretty much what you need to know, just the pictures would make it more user friendly.

Nice guide. I hate guiding people who have never been to the barrows before. This should help. I do barrows all the time now. Ive gotten to the point where I dont need any food and I only use like four pray pots (4).

Well, I guess you could say I'm a noob and all, but I was wondering if you think I even have a chance at Barrows. I've never been there before but I have plenty of funds to use the best equipment I can wear and use. My stats that matter on this subject are:

70 range
70 mage (with ancients)
20 defence
1 prayer
62 Hp

I was just curious because a friend of mine said I had no chance but i can just ice burst the meleers and range Ahrim with rune arrows....I'm still contemplating if I should get more defence for black dh body and possibly some splitbark items. The armour I was reccomended to wear was:

black dh chaps and vambs
elemental shield
staff of water
blue mystic gloves, hat, boots and body
amulet of glory
800 chaos
400 deaths
magic shortbow and 100 rune arrows

Sorry, your friend is right. No chance at all. With the 20 defence you would die extremely quickly plus 43 prayer is a must because they still have a little bit of movement even thought they're frozen. But all you need to do is get 43 prayer and then I think you can do it easy. The only part I think you might have a hard time with is the tunnel because you'd need alot of prayer potions and that would cost alot of money. I dont think you'd have enough room in your inventory anyway. But its possible if you ration the amount of stuff you bring with you and fill up the extra space with sharks and prayer potions.

I think all the stuff that you said you'd bring is fine except for the elemental sheild. It only gives you a magic bonus and no melee (I think).
I think you should bring one of the holy books. My suggestion is Saradomin. You could really use the defence bonus. And if you die its not like its lost forevr. Go back to the lighthouse and get a new book with all the pages for free.

Also you dont need rune arrows. I have 69 range (currently working on 70 as I type) and Ahrim goes down in like less than a minute with iron arrows. Save your rune arrows for PKing.

So if you plan to do it get 43 prayer and the Saradomin Holy Book. Thats what I think. Then you should be able to own the Barrows.
