Map of Isafdar:
1: To start the quest, you must travel north of the tyras camp and speak with the man guarding the catapult (Marker #1 on the map). the easiest way to get there is to take a charter ship for a small gold fee, then walk along the path, and pass through the woods to the clearing. you can use a glory to teleport to karamja for the fastest charter ship.
2: Talk to the guard and he will explain how he has not been taking good care of the catapult and that an engineer has been brought in to help, but that he's been no help at all. After volunteering to help him, he'll tell you to talk to General Hining, who is in the Tyras camp. General hining will give you a letter to deliver to the engineer.
3: Follow the path marked on the above map to marker #2 to get to the catapult engineer. You will pass the following obstacles on the way to him from the camp:
forest; forest; trip wire; forest; leaf trap; stick trap. Give him the letter. Talk with him and tell him you are a good carpenter, and he will agree to let you help out. he should give you an order for supplies. use the order and chose to make replacement parts, and you will end up withe these pieces:
4: talk to the engineer again and he will have read the letter. ask to read it.
you must go see Rolad to get the last of the parts. He is in the east building at the ice mountain entrance to the dwarven mines. This is when it comes in handy to have a glory amulet, as you can teleport to edgeville and walk a short distance to white wolf mountain. if you don't have a teleport, you can follow the marked path to marker #3 to use the letya bank, or you can homeport. Talk to him and he will tell you he dispatched Thaki to take the parts to a charter ship in port sarim, and he has not reported back yet. Thus, you must go to port sarim to find him. (if you have a glory, teleport to draynor to shorten the trip).
5: dwarves are ale-loving beings, so its only natural you'd find Thaki in the tavern, drunk off his stool. talk to him and ask for the parts, and he will say you aren't a sailor and he can't trust you with the parts, and mentions your hat is wrong. you need a sailor's hat. the on duty sailors wont give you theirs, so you'll need to find another sailor, like this one:
put on the hat then talk to thaki again. you will convince him you are a sailor with your amazing mastery of sailor speak:
6: now that you have all of the parts necessary, you can take a charter ship back to port tyras and talk to the catapult guard again. there is a charter ship in the far south of port sarim, or you can use the karamja one again. you must now assemble the pieces together to repair the catapult. this is an interesting puzzle. here is one side solved:

7: now that the catapult is fixed, its time for target practice. you must adjust the power and direction the catapult fires to hit 3 rocks with large red Xs painted on them. the central, close rock requires only one blue unit of counter weight to be hit. the far, right side rock requires as much power as you can get, and the left, middle rock, requires one less than the right rock. adjust the power, then move the catapult so the big arrow is pointing strait up at the target you want to hit:
if you do all that right, then you'll hit dead on!
8: after you hit all 3 targets, talk to the guard one last time to complete the quest!
