 Post subject: The Hand in the Sand

Items needed (in order):

-2 coins or a beer
-2 sets of 30 coins to sail to Brimhaven (unless you use a ring of charos for a free ride). You'll teleport back, so don't worry about the return trip.
-1 empty vial
-1 redberries (Obtained in the forest south of Varrock)
-1 white berries (Gotten from Chaos Druid warriors or friendly berry-picking high-level players. Otherwise, buy them.)
-1 bullseye lens (Made out of glass)
-5 earth runes
-1 bucket of sand

Teleports I used:

-2 Ardougne Teleport
-3 Watchtower Teleport (Or Duelling Ring teleport)
-2 Falador Teleport.

Difficulty:

-It's straightforward and simple, but there's quite a bit of teleporting you have to do, and it would take a good magic level. Otherwise, it's easy.

Length:

-Medium. It took me just more then an hour.

Requirements:

-Level 17 theiving
-Level 49 crafting

To start:

-Speak with Bert in Yanille.

You start off the quest by speaking to Bert. He is nearby the sandpit in Yanille, inside of a house.

He says he found a hand in the sandpit and is going to lose his job. He asks you to talk to the general, who is in the pub, by showing him the hand he found.

Go to the bar. It's across the road.

He wants a beer. Give him a beer. Then you'll ... somewhat discuss the hand. However, he will drop it and it will get soaked in the beer. Eww!
After all that, he'll tell you to speak to Zavistic Rarve, the head wizard of the wizards guild. It's also in Yanille nearby the bank for those who don't know. Ring the nearby bell to summon him if you haven't the level to get in.

After a few rather annoying puns, Zavistic will tell you it must be Clarence's hand. Clarence is a student of his. He'll then tell you to talk to Bert, because he suspects something.

While you're near the bank, grab an Ardounge teleport if you can as well as either a watchtower teleport, or if you can't use it, a duelling ring so you can teleport to the Castle Wars lobby and from there walk to Yanille.

Anyways, talk to Bert and he'll give you his hours on a note. To confirm it, you'll have to go to Brimhaven, which is where the Ardougne port takes you.

Teleport to Ardougne and sail to Brimhaven. The Sand Corp is in front of the resturant you buy cooked fish from.

Talk to Sandy. He's not a very big help, so search his desk to find an origional Bert's rota. Compare the 2.

Also, pick Sandy's pocket until you get some sand.

From there, return to Yanille by any means nessisary and talk to Bert about the time schedules. He'll give you a scroll to talk to Zavistic about. Do so.

Zavistic will get more suspicious about Sandy, and will order you to get a Truth Serum from Betty, the magic store owner in Port Sarim. He'll also give you a scrying orb (I find you get lots of those nowadays). Go to the bank and grab an empty vial, red berries, white berries, a bullseye lens, a Falador Teleport, an Ardougne teleport, more coins for the boat ride, and a Yanille Teleport.

Teleport to Falador and run down to Betty in Port Sarim.

She'll ask for an empty vial. Give it to her. Then she'll give you a bottle of water and tell you to make some pink dye and put it on the bullseye lens. She'll tell you how. Do that, and talk to Betty again. She'll tell you to stand in the doorway and focus the lens on the vial she places on the desk. Walk to the doorway and use the lens on the vial when it appears.

After this, talk to her one more time and she'll tell you to add something of his. This is where the sand from his pocket comes into play. She adds the sand (eww!) and tell you to dilute it in tea or coffee.

Head to Brimhaven. If you can't teleport, ride the boat to Karamja and walk.

Now you'll need to distract Sandy with a story of some kind.

Choose this one. He won't believe the other 2. Actually, you have to tell him the other 2 and he'll believe the third, so it doesn't matter what order they're in. After saying all 3 choices, he will become distracted by looking out the window. When he looks out the window, use the serum on his coffee. Then activate the orb by clicking on it and speak to him.

You'll learn the horrible truth. He bribed a wizard to put a spell on Bert to get him to work longer hours and then KILLED HIM! NOOOO!

Anyways, once you get all the information you need, return to Yanille and talk to Zavistic.

Talk to him. He'll tell you to bring him 5 earth runes and a bucket of sand for ... some reason. Don't question him, just do so.

He'll cast this nifty spell that will put Bert out of work. Nice goin'!

He'll then ask you to search the Entrana sandpit for Clarence. Go to the bank, grab a Falador and a Watchtower teleport, and teleport to Falador and head for Entrana. Remember, you can't bring armor or weapons.

Once at Entrana, you can talk to the nearby monk named Mazion. He'll give you a head on things. Or at least a head.

Return to Zavistic and give him the head. 'Alas, poor Clarence. I knew him well.' Yeah, he'll thank you and end the quest.

You can go get a reward from Bert? Hmm, I wonder what it is ...
