Please refer to the date of the guide - it is obviously outdated. I do not recommend use of this as an actual guide as it is a submission. Of course, it will be updated, corrected, and polished when the guides go official. The Woodcutting Guide Originally written by Alexandr and Sam361 on March 18 2006, last edited on April 18 2006.Updated and improved by Warren on April 6 2007. Thanks to Alex, The Haysta, and Halo156 for information and suggestions. MADE FOR USE ON http://WWW.RSBANDB.COM ONLYNote: * = Members only.
Intro Woodcutting costs very little money and is profitable. When you chop down a tree you get logs. So after woodcutting you can train firemaking or fletching if you want to. Woodcutting is pretty simple. Bring an axe to a tree, click, and watch your character do the work while logs fill in your inventory. The woodcutting skill can be performed in the non members version of the game(F2P) as well as members version of the game (P2P).
This guide covers most things about the woodcutting skill. You will learn about the different axe types, the logs you will cut, locations to train at, a recommended way to level, the prices of logs and axes, the axe shops, canoes, random events, the lumberjack outfit, the Tai Bwo Wannai Clean Up mini-game, and the achievement cape.

Recommended Leveling
Level 1-15
There are very little trees to cut at your level. Just chop down regular trees. You can burn the logs for firemaking XP or drop them. I don't really suggest storing them in a bank, as they aren't worth a lot of money. Only store them if you are going to turn them into planks for the *construction skill, or you are planning on burning them later.
Level 15-30
You can now cut oaks, so why not? You'll notice something when you start to cut oaks. You now get multiple logs from a tree instead of one, like you did from the normal tree. You can burn them, drop them, or bank them. If you store them and are F2P, you can try to find a member buying them so they can train the *construction skill. If you are a member you can turn them into planks and sell them or turn them into planks to train construction.
Level 30-99 (Non Profit)
If you want fast XP, willows are the way to go for now on. Bank them if you are going to sell them for a small profit, burn them latter, or train your *fletching level to 70. You might as-well bank them if you are woodcutting in Draynor, even if you don't intend to do the previously mentioned things. You can turn them into notes and drop them when your done.
 The following methods are for people who want money.
Level 60-75
Now you can make a fairly good profit by selling logs. Cut yew trees and sell the logs or use them for fletching to make profit. There are spots close to banks, but if your F2P, you will probably find the area packed with tones of macros.
Level 75-99
Go cut *magic trees. You cut them at the same rate no matter what your level is, so there is no point in waiting if you want money. Sell the logs or fletch them. If you find they cut to slow for your liking, go back to yews.
Pricing *Prices are always changing so these prices may not be the current prices! Logs
Normal logs: No market Oak logs: 30 - 35 coins each Willow logs: 20 - 40 coins each Maple logs: 80 - 100 coins each Yew logs: 300 - 350 coins each *Magic logs: 1 000 - 1 200 coins each
Axes (Player sold)
Mithril Axe: 1 000 coins Adamant Axe: 5 000 - 7 000 coins Rune Axe: 15 000 - 20 000 coins *Dragon Axe: 3 000 000 (3 Million) coins
Axe Shops
Lumbridge Notes: Bring a damaged axe or pickaxe to Bob inside the shop and he will fix it for a small price.

*Canoes
At level 12 woodcutting your able to make canoes. These will transport you down River Lum. As your level increases you can go further down the river. At level 57 you are able to travel anywhere down the river all the way into level 35 Wilderness. If your going to take the wilderness route, you should know you can't go back.
If you want to take this transportation, bring an axe you have the level to use to one of the canoe sites. (shown below) Cut the tree beside the river to make it fall. Once its been cut down, you can carve it into a canoe by clicking on it. You should chose the highest option available. Click on it once your character carves it to push it into the water. Finally, click on it again and you will be able to chose where you want to go.
Canoe Station Locations
Canoe | Level | Woodcutting XP | Stations It Can Travel To | Log | 12 | 30 | 1 / No Wilderness | Dugout | 27 | 60 | 2 / No Wilderness | Stable Dugout | 42 | 90 | 3 / No Wilderness | Waka | 57 | 150 | All / Yes Wilderness |
*Managing the Kingdom
Another good and easy way to get logs is by managing the Kingdom of Miscellania. You can get maple, teak, and mahogany logs from the workers, but for a price of course. You must complete the Throne of Miscellania quest to receive maple logs and the Royal Trouble quest to recieve teak and mahogany logs.
 [center]Woodcutting Related Random Events
Tree Sprit Picture Requested
Oh great. Another skill with the random enemy that can kill you. If your one of people who multitasks by going to different computer windows, you could find yourself dead. If your getting the level 120 or 159 Tree sprits, you should be good, or have the Protection from Melee prayer, or be ready to run. When killed, they will drop random stuff involving woodcutting or other things. Like axes.
Ent
While woodcutting, you will probably experience this ugly creature. The tree will start shaking and turn into this temporarily. If you cut the tree during this time, you will break your axe and have to get it fixed by Bob in Lumbridge, for a small fee. If you have a dragon axe, it will cost 1 800 coins. A rune axe costs 427 coins to fix.
*Bird Nest Picture Requested
Time to time when woodcutting, a nest will fall out of the tree. Pick it up and search it. You can find tree seeds, rings, or bird eggs in the nests. Tree seeds can be sold for a high price or farmed, rings can be enchanted or alched, and bird eggs can... well, they currently have no use. Once you've taken the item out of the nest it can be crushed. These are a secondary ingredient for making Saradomin Brews at level 81 herblore. If you want to get more of these nests, you can make a rabbit-foot necklace from hunter skill, which will increase the odds of a birds nest falling.
Axe Dislocation Picture Requested
Sometimes the trees are just to tough for your axe, so the head will fly off if you try to chop a tree. Wouldn't it suck if you had a dragon axe and the head flew off, but you were in a different computer window, perhaps browsing the forums? Someone could come along and pick it up. You should watch as you start cutting the tree before switching windows. If it falls of, retrieve it and use the handle with the head. Note this event was discontinued |
*Lumberjack Clothing
You get this outfit from the Temple Trekking and Burgh de Rott Ramble mini-game. It is dropped by undead lumberjacks. When worn, it will give a bonus to the XP per log you cut. The extra XP isn't very much, but it will add up. Lumberjack clothing requires 44 woodcutting to wear.
Tree | XP With Lumberjack Outfit | Normal Tree | 25.6 | Achey Tree | 25.6 | Light Jungle | 32.8 | Oak Tree | 38.4 | Medium Junlge | 56.4 | Willow Tree | 69.1 | Dense Jungle | 82 | Teak Tree | 87.1 | Maple Tree | 102.5 | Hollow Tree | 84.5 | Mahogany | 128.1 | Arctic Pine | 41 | Yew Tree | 179.3 | Magic Tree | 256.2 |

Jungle | Level | Woodcutting XP | Picture | Light Jungle | 10 | 32 | (requested) | Medium Jungle | 20 | 55 | (requested) | Dense Jungle | 35 | 80 | (requested) |
*Woodcutting Achievement Cape
Picture of Emote Requested
After thousands of logs, hopefully millions of profit, and hours of woodcutting, you will eventually achieve 99 woodcutting. You then can purchase this fabulous cape for 99k from the Woodcutting Tutor located in Lumbridge. This cape has the ability to increase your level to 100 temporarily and give you a nice emote.
