Hmm...let me see if I can add anything...
Yes, people do have their own opinions, and Only 50% of them you will agree with. Does that mean that you should be offended for half your life? Nahh...no point wasting 40 odd years on that.
As for what the others have said, I have to congratulate you Athelus, on responding well. However, you might want to backtrack, even think of what that person said, and see if you can relate to a different topic on it. I did, and it helped me a lot:
A few years ago, my mom wanted me to eat zucchini. Now, I absolutely hate the stuff, and refused to eat it, saying
"Zucchini Sucks!" Now my dad LOVES the stuff, so he was offended that i wouldn't like it, so he said "Now i know that isn't my kid...", so I was offended. I just though of the zucchini (as it was forced down my throat) as something else, and it didn't really taste that bad. Now a couple of ye I like zucchini, and it is bearing with it that made me eat it and stand it.
Now don't go saying "But I don't want to be converted!", because then that will just prove how stubborn you are. Sometimes its good to try new things, and one of those new things is looking inside what the other person is thinking, and where they are coming from on the topic.
*gasps* Now to drink some refreshing lemonade.
("But I don't L-I-K-E lemonade!...")
Ahh just try it. You will...
-As for your leaving, Goodbye, hope you come back sometimes.
