What would happen if I was to install Windows Vista onto an originally Windows XP computer? My computer appears to have crashed and I need to reinstall XP, but I have lost the disk.
My computer is 2 and half years old (ish) so will anything major happen like losing files?
Thanks, samuel

Most of the time there's an option to Upgrade. But if XP has fallen down and crashed horribly that wouldn't be advisable, so you need to do a clean install. This would mean losing files. So it's a good idea to back up before you do it.
