GAH! Spyware!

Anyone have any good anti-spyware programs? Help is much appreciated. I can't even play Runescape til' this problem is fixed, so anyone who can help me, I'd really thank you for that.

That's the only free anti-spyware software I know.
If you have money, buy Ad-Aware.

I use 3, spybot as mentioned before, ad-aware (You can still get free if you hunt around for it on the site), and Microsoft anti-spyware.

You can get Spybot in the link mentioned in the above post.

Ad-Aware you can get here

Microsoft's you can get here

I use all 3 and work real good.

why didnt adaware work for you?

here is a direct link to download it.. well.. u have to click it.. then click "download now" but yeah.

http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Per ... ag=lst-0-1

that link is for adaware. Make sure after u download and install, to update it and get the latest definitions for it..

When using it to scan.. scan everything.. do a full system scan, and also a smart scan.. i find sometimes one or the other will miss something.

I have no idea why Ad-Aware doesn't work for me. I scan fully, quarantine, and anything else I can think of, it just doesn't work for me.

I pray my uncle can fix it... ( If he doesn't I'm gonna have to dig a grave for my computer )

what os are you running?

yes micrsoft antispyware, spybot s&d and ad-aware se are great programs to use to fix this problem but have you tried anti virus yet? I use avg free version for anti virus it is very good. also after this problem is fixed you should start running a software firewall like zone alarm

after you run microsoft antispyware please post the results maybe in the form of a screen shot so we may see what we are dealing with.

also could you please lis what progams you are currently useing on this problem.

you can read more about these and other good security programs here

trekkie reformatting isnt always the right thing to do because you need your data backed up if your data isnt backed up you will lose it all but if it is backed up than reformatting would be the way to go.

also trekkie i have some good popup blockers too aswell as a browser that stops popups pm me if you would more information so we dont go off topic on this thread

If you find those programs unhelpful, reformatting it.

This is the reason you get a second drive, you either get 2 hardrives or split of the hardrives.

So just pull are your stuff into an another drive and just reformatt the main drive where the system files exists.

yup what jeff said but that will cost you if you dont already have a secondary drive.

how large is your main/current drive? and do you have a secondary drive?

You can get a free version of ad-aware which is pretty good. Spybot is overated, it always misses things.

My dad and I have a file server for these reasons.

You can turn any old computer into a backup machine.
