I've been trying to make a cross compiler from i686-pc-cygwin to i386-pc-linux-gnu. Is that even possible?

I've already accidentally deleted my entire /usr folder, so I'm thinking I *might* be doing it wrong.

If possible, I'd like to have it use the latest versions of all of the toolchain apps (gcc, g++, ld, as, etc.)

If you don't know what I'm talking about, don't bother replying.

Well, depends, what is this compiler going to be used for most?
(And C++ could be the problem, if there was a txt file called 'DH~C++.txt' located in this /usr folder.)
