So I've come to a thought of starting my own site and keeping it supported through ads and such.
The problem is, how may I actually start it?
Do I just find a hosting website such as Go Daddy or something of the sort?
Also if that's what is required of me, what's the best hosting service.
I have a decent amount of money to begin with, but I don't want it to be that expensive, I don't plan on having a lot of traffic either.
Also I found a website name I would like but I end up coming to this:

Does that mean it's already taken or it's up for grabs?
I really never understood who owned sites like those.
Also I did edit the URL part so nobody would even think about taking the name.

That means that someone has already snapped up that domain name and has parked it so that no one else can use it, basically. Tends to be people who think they can make money out of reselling domain names.

As for getting started, basically all you need is a host, and a domain name. Domain names usually have similar costs wherever you go, and GoDaddy is a good place to get one from. Hosting ranges in pricing based on what kind of server you get, so for a personal website you'll just want a basic shared server with 100MB or so of space and a decent amount of bandwidth. That comes fairly standard on any American server so you'll have no trouble with that. Again GoDaddy is probably fine and convenient for the average user.
