Cliff Dude,
The problem is that the cd burner you're using is just putting the iso on the cd in a zip. So it can't automaticly extract on start up.
I use ImgBurn.. You can search it on google and it's the first link. I suggest if you want to go into linux use Ubuntu, fedora core is a waste of time and effort.. The operating system is usless.. I've found the Ubuntu distrobution alot better than Fedora. Although I keep fedora because I like to use it as my localhost when coding web applications.
What I've recently done, close to pika.. Is played around with my own laptop. I'm actually on it as we speak. It's running XUbuntu.. XUbuntu is a lighter and smaller version of Ubuntu so it's friendly for computer that have small specs like my laptop. My laptop currently has 192 mb shared and a 2.4 GHz Celeron Processor. It's about 4 years old and It's still alive and kicking. It's actually brought this cruddy old laptop alive making it run even faster on linux than windows. I put linux on my laptop to run a localhost on it when I go out of down or something of the sorts.
I do warn you though, if you have a 64 bit processor, you'll have a hard time getting java to work. I suggest you download the 32 bit version of Ubuntu or XUbuntu depending on what your specs are. Oh, a big detail is if you want your OS to be Gnome or KDE. XUbuntu is gnome, although I do believe it can be KDE.. This version of Xubuntu is like a mix between Gnome and KDE, it's kinda cool. Kubuntu is a KDE version of Ubuntu, but Kubuntu seems to have alot of bugs in it to me compared to Ubuntu..
It's really all up to you, just don't go with Fedora or any other linux distro that requires more than 1 disk.. They're just a waste of your time.
thanks,
Nate
Xubuntu is a very light version of Ubuntu which uses the desktop environment Xfce, not Gnome nor KDE.
I'm mainly on Windows XP. I have Xubuntu, Kubuntu, Ubuntu, and Edubuntu CDs. I'm currently testing all of them. I have Edubuntu currently installed since there is no LiveCD version of it. I will probably stick with Edubuntu since it has everything Ubuntu has and plus the icons look better
